Realistically from a merit standpoint Arike ugonbowale has a case for being snubbed too. She was snubbed for taurasi who is on the downside of her career. So with that being said… either taurasi isn’t going to play much which means clark easily could have made the roster as a figurehead. Or they’re going to force a lesser player in taurasi the same way we played rapinoe when she was way past her prime, in which case they’re leaving off a much better player in someone like ogunbowale.
In either scenario, taurasis inclusion on the team doesn’t make sense to anyone who wants to argue about merit or wanting to build the best roster. |

The USA Women’s basketball team hasn’t lost a game since 1992. They could use Rapinoe herself as the guard and still win gold. Let’s not get crazy about all of this. This decision will have absolutely no effect on the outcome of the Olympics.

Even more reason to select Caitlin Clark for the team.

It won't make any difference from a results perspective, but wouldn't it have been wiser, if trying to grow the women's game, to include their most marketable player?

Brittany Grinder is averaging 11 points and 4 rebounds per game in the WNBA this season… “12 best players selected”…

I think it's much ado about nothing. She's been laying golden eggs since the minute she got drafted. She's just needs to acclimate herself to the league. Everyone calls her the Steph Curry of the WNBA but if I'm not mistaken Steph is approaching the twilight of his career and he hasn't suited up for team USA either

I mean it's fairly comparable to the PGA when Woods broke out. And the old guard players bristled when this new guy who didn't play like them (or look like them) came in and was just kicking everyone's ass. But the difference is that the PGA - the organization - didn't. They recognized immediately that Woods was their path to national relevance and leaned hard into him. He was immediately the face of everything. The PGA didn't respond to Tiger Woods by saying "Hey, this is our chance to make people love Jim Furyk!!" They weren't hyping Tom Lehman over Tiger. And when Fuzzy Zoeller did his thing, the PGA didn't suspend him but they didn't make it Zoeller vs. Woods and quietly seem to favor Zoeller. The players are gonna do what they're gonna do - just as PGA golfers took some time to adjust to the realities of being nationally popular because of someone that wasn't them. But eventually they accepted it and I figure sooner or later the WNBA players will as well. But what I don't understand is why the WNBA is almost deliberately sidelining their version of Tiger Woods. She needs to be EVERYTHING to this league and the other players can get in line or get left behind, just as guys like Mickelson and Mark O'Meara eventually did. Someone like David Duval imploded with the pressure and the Tour moved on without him. But you can't hold yourself back like this. It's just poor leadership. |

Better yet. Imagine if the big 3 had a game on the same time and CC played. Which is the country and world watching? |

Where it will have a gigantic impact is on marketing and growing the wnba. And I just don’t know why the younger players wouldn’t love having more and more fans cheer them on. |
