I find it interesting because it's tantamount to what I think all gaming should be. The son has an Xbox, and I just don't get it, but you give me a seat, a steering wheel, surround screen, clutch, break, and gas pedals, and a rather real experience, and I think I'd like it better than some gay controller deal. Not unlike flight simulators where you have a complete set of controls, pedals, stick/wheel, and surround screens, that might be interesting...

I game a little with my young nephew but find many games just too damn boring. If you gave me a rig like some of these guys are using and the experience these systems create I could get into the gaming part of it. I just can't watch it as a "fan" like many are. |

You can find tons of setups online or build one. Too bulky and too ugly and people get bored with them. I also host a facebo page called Cats in simulatior cockpits because cats love racing seats

The only video game I ever got addicted to was a late '90s WWII simulation titled "Airwarrior." It was one of the first online games, and it originally used the old GEnie network. IIRC, it cost about $2-$3 an hour to play. I got so obsessed with that game that I spend over $275/month, basically a car payment back then, for over a year.
Once I got really hooked, I bought the shell of an old Star Wars coin-op video game for $100 (some of you might remember this; looked kind of like a plane cockpit), installed my computer monitor behind the magnifying lens, installed brackets to hold both my throttle and my joystick (Thrustmaster), and screwed my rudder pedals to the floor of that thing. I also installed an old car seat for added comfort, speakers, and a phone headset so I could talk to my wingmates instead of having to type everything. Kind of glad that game went away, just because if it hadn't I'd probably still be a bartender living in a crappy apartment dating a stripper. |

NASCAR coming back starting May 17th at Darlington, for now they are only racing at Charlotte and Darlington(since it's only about 2 hours driving time from Charlotte).
