A lot of people who aren’t in the right frame of mind will decide the cost of having to retrieve your car is bigger than the relatively small risk of getting caught for a DUI.

Feel like a tag team Uber option where one person drives you home and another person takes your car back would be highly successful.
These types of services exist - at least in cities. When I lived in Denver and went to tons of concerts at Red Rocks and saw 3 or 4 Phish shows at Dicks Sporting Goods Park every Labor Day weekend, we always used a service called NoDUI.

We liked taking my Grand Cherokee because I have the Summit model that has a 19 speaker, 875 watt Harman Kardon stereo that we listened to while tailgating before the show. You made arrangements with the NoDUI service where you took a picture of the rear of your car including the license plate, and told them what lot you were in and what row, etc.

Your driver dropped their car off at your house and had a partner who drove them to your car towards the end of the show, so your driver was waiting at your car when the show ended. Your driver drives you home, you pay the $100 fee and tip them, and they drive their car home.

Great service, we used it all the time and it went like clockwork every time. 150 bucks, but way cheaper than a DUI, you had the convenience of taking your car to the show, and you didn’t have to worry about killing anyone or embarrassing your family by being an irresponsible idiot and getting your third DUI a week before the Super Bowl.

Not exactly sure why this would be a distraction? It's doesn't effect the team and it's not like Pat is 13 and needs his dad at home. If my dad got a DWI that resulted in jail time, I'd think "Geez dad, that was dumb. Anyway, I'll come visit you when I get the chance". And then I would move on with my life. Why would an adult man be distracted from his job because his dad has to sit in the hole a couple years?

Driving drunk is arguably cheaper than getting uber or alternative transportation wherever you go. Perhaps thats why so many people do it...and also when you consider how strapped for cash people can be.

Avg cost of DUI $7,000

Avg cost of Uber to and from or NoDui Service $100

If you take an Uber both ways for 100 trips thats $10,000. If getting hotel or NoDui service even more like $15,000 to $20,000

If you get one DUI per 100 trips thats only $7,000

The key determining factor would be your success rate to evade police arrest while drunk driving...assuming you don't kill yourself or others first.

Us drunk people are so smart we do this math on the spot

Leave it to Bwillie to make the case for drunk driving being a smart thing to do.

It's definitely not a smart thing to do. It may just be a cost effective thing to do which is why so many people do it. Make DUIs cost even MORE and need more affordable alternative transportation options.

I do not understand the reasoning behind this thread being locked.

People also assume Pat Mahomes Sr is so rich. I have no doubt that Patrick helps him to some degree but he only made 2.6 million playing baseball. That isn't enough to last you a lifetime.

Glad he didn't get in a wreck and kil anyone or get hurt himself.

Hope he gets some help. Or at least has a moment of clarity and hires a limo instead of driving from now on when he wants to let loose. Would hate for it to take a bad accident to wake him up.

I'm betting he's living better now than he was when he was playing baseball.

Yeah I wasn't saying it was the same outcome...just the same timing right before the superbowl...and just because no one got hurt this time around doesn't mean the risk wasn't still there. Sad situations both of them.
