I'm glad to see you guys having success, especially the beginners. congrats on knocking those car smashers down.

I've been too busy to get in a tree even once this year...and to rub some salt in the wound I even let another guy hunt my farm this past week.....

On a sadder note my grandfather's Brittany pup got into his facial cream for his skin cancer and died. So I'm on the lookout for a male Brittany spaniel to get behind my 8 year old.

I'll get out for gun season and I might try late season muzzy for the first time since I basically missed bow season. I'm locked down this weekend too....

Next year I will do more delegating at work and just make a week of vacation to bow hunt. My boy is getting closer to that age too so i need to get some of that man-school going too.

My friend and I both got our elk last week. I shot a nice 5x5 and he shot a 5 with a broken main beam. Can't seem to post pictures. It says I have a missing security certificate.

Awesome. I’d love to go Elk hunting. I’ve been bow hunting hard here in Indiana for a couple weeks when I get time. Shot a doe and all I’ve seen are small bucks. Went scouting today in the snow to find a new place to muzzleloader Hunt. Gun season starts Saturday here and it gets crazy. Will prob only go during the week

I think because our range is pretty much concrete and my son heard it so loud (even with ears on) he was pensive pensive with the first shot he ever took with his .243, then he was over that! Now he likes to shoot my .30-06 just for the fun of it. I'm actually thinking of trading rifles with him this weekend, just for fun...

So it's a process, and one that's pretty cool to watch them mature through.

I have a question, It was pretty freaking cold 3 out of the 4 days of our hunt. I was layered up pretty good but I just can't keep my feet warm. I use some Merino Wool socks that I use for skiing but after a couple hours in the stand my feet start getting cold. My boots are insulated either 600 or 1000 grams I can't remember. I did try a pair of those insoles made by the hand warmer folks. I don't think they really helped.

What do you guys use to keep your feet warm?

If you noticed your feet did sweat then that's the problem. I don't think wool is recommended anymore. Get some wick away socks to keep moisture away from your skin.

Always dress your core/legs to keep them warm, almost too warm and that wil help tremedously. Wear your shoes all the way up until the time you're ready to walk into the field. If your feet sweat it's all over. then wear your boots like normal as you walk in. When your feet start getting cold you can put on some of these toe warmers (or you can put them on before you walk about but you risk sweating more). If they are still cold put some toe warmers on top of your toes too.

I also wear a thing moisture wicking sock liner underneath my socks to wick away sweat.

Just keep the sweat away man. Carry extra layers into the field and put them on out there after you've cooled off from the walk in. That's always a good idea.

Soak your feet in ice buckets an hour a night for a month before you hunt.
jk.

It depends what kind of hunting. If you're bow hunting, I'll give you a tip. Buy a $30 camo sleeping bag, sew a couple of shoulder straps into the top....unroll, get in, stay warm.

I'm a big believer in hand warmers...I'll keep a couple in my pockets and I'll wear a tight second layer and put one in my back below my neck and one on my chest somewhere. Just having something warm touch a little skin seems to help me feel warm.
