Let's talk about the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Super Bowl Edition)

Second straight Super Bowl win incoming.

Time to send old man Brady out to pasture.

If you are going to start Rankin, wouldn’t it make more sense to start him at LT so nobody has to move anywhere?

LT yes that makes some sense.

What doesn’t make any to me is moving Remmers over to LT just to plug Rankin in at RT.

1) Rankin's struggles at T and G tend to come from anchoring against the power rush. The Bucs DE's don't present much of that, while their DTs most certainly do.
2) Wylie being on the inside and much more familiar with the communications and picking up stunts will help against what TB likes to do, plus he just anchors better against power (and Vita Vea is a problem). Not only that, having Remmers fresh at LT, it'd probably be a good idea to have his LG not also be fresh meat.
They're going to be fully prepared. It won't be an issue.

Now if Rankin were to play it would make sense that he plays LT which is the position he's played the most both in the league and in college. However if that is the plan then why didn't they do it when Fisher got injured? Did he not dress for the game? And if they thought he could play RT why didn't they trust him against the Saints when Remmers was hurt? Right now I still think Whylie and Remmers plays the tackle spots but I'd be happy to give Rankins a shot if the coaches have seen good things in practice.

Maybe they saw something on tape that they thought would give them a better matchup against Tampa than they had against New Orleans?

So.. we might start a guy who has barely played Left tackle in the NFL to protect Patricks blind side???
