Lamar thinking he can go the Watson route of a fully guaranteed deal has basically made the entire league tell him to **** off.

Yeah, you're talking about actual long-term planning. There's very few front offices in the NFL that feel like they're safe regardless of what crazy moves they make (see the Chiefs).

The Giants are the norm. No, it's not right to pay Jones that much but it's the way of the NFL. The NFL is very much about playing catch up, not innovating. Very few teams have the leeway to innovate. There's just not enough job security.

Andy Dalton isn't the answer to any question for the Giants. He's awful.

Eh there's a slight level of the owners making a point. Lamar wants fully guaranteed, he's using Watson as his base and the rest of the league is responding with, **** you we aren't doing that.

Exactly.

There may be collusion but it has nothing to do with race and everything to do with Lamar's demands for a guaranteed contract.

Guessing there will be a demand. Personally I think the Ravens are willing to pay him but hung up on the number of years and how much of it is guaranteed. Hard to guarantee a running QB into his 30's.

Though the nonexclusive seems to take out a lot of QB needy teams that have early first round picks. Almost have to try and make a separate trade with the Ravens.

My favorite part is all the morons screaming racism because Jones got his contract as if Lamar would have been willing to sign the same deal.

The only reason Jones is making more than Lamar is on his tag is because Lamar wants a shit ton of $ more than Jones signed for.

The 2 things have nothing to do with each other its all because of Lamar's demands but the race baiters are barking up a storm.

Another big part of the problem for Lamar is that he doesn't have an agent. He's trying to get this done by himself. With no bargaining skills, no experience with how to even talk to these GMs. And then he wants a fully guaranteed deal. It's about as half-assed an approach as he could possibly do.

And I hate to say it because somebody will cry racism but there are guys that can get away with not having an agent and guys that can't. Has nothing at all to do with race, but Lamar Jackson is literally dumber than a box of rocks. No player should really try to negotiate a huge contract on their own. But of all the players that could, Jackson isn't one of them.

Yeah, and I don't really think Lamar is stupid. But he's not Steve Young, that has a law degree, and had some experience dealing with executives, etc. Lamar doesn't have any base set of negotiating skills or training to even think about being his own agent, probably. And you're right; players should not ever try to be their own agent. Kind of like people should never be their own lawyer in a criminal case. Even lawyers hire other lawyers to defend themselves.

Yeah. Think that him representing himself is going to put a lot of teams off. Teams do not want to spend weeks talking with him only to either not get a deal or 2) have the Ravens come in and match. With an agent you can make a few calls and know where you stand.

You can greatly over pay and give up 2 1's or do the work for the Ravens.

Lamar scored an 13 on the Wonderlic. I don't want to take it too far but one only has to listen to him talk for about 5 minutes before it's obvious he's not the sharpest tool in the shed.
