I cooked steak for the wife on mothers day, and of course it started to rain. I rolled out this shitbox awning thing the prior owners installed.
I got ****all for pictures because everything was a bit of a mess, but I was proud of my effort given the circumstances. |

Thanks.
I don't do a ton on charcoal. My wife would never take the time, but nothing beats a good charcoal sear, so I sprung for the mini - it was dirt cheap. I should have just bucked up and bought a good one, but my cheap ass side got the best of me. Maybe some day I'll have the time to do it like you guys. Someday when I grow up. |

Cooked me many fine evening meals on a smoke joe jr after long days on the pipeline circuit. Right outside the door of the Paki pad formily a Days Inn/Roadway Inn/ Super 8. Gott cooler of beer Roll up bag chair and the company of pipeline welders Utility lineman traveling to the next storm etc.
PS: No better wakeup alarm than the sound of diesel motors firing up on a cold 4 am morning with the exhaust smell wafting under the door with the sweep that hasn't been replaced for 70 years. Last edited by srvy; 05-13-2024 at 09:31 AM.. |

For those of you that are in the PHX area, or might travel through one day, can't miss the Tennessee Grill in Anthem. Might be the best BBQ in the Phoenix area (or Az for that matter). Just ate there today for lunch and the fried catfish was really great. The piece of fish was maybe 2-3 times the size I normally get when ordering catfish, perfectly cooked and still some juice inside. Fried okra is made fresh, not frozen, and the ribs were as usual the perfect bite/texture and really well seasoned. Well, 'rib,' just had the one bone off my lunchmate's plate.
Oh, and they recently started offering several flavors of moonshine at their bar. Didn't try any today, but looking forward to tasting some over the weekend. |
