He’s the best college power bat and has seen his stock increase a lot. I think it’s a weird fit for the Royals.

This isn’t a draft where they need to save money for their second pick, not when there is such clear premium talent sure to be available at their pick, and not when their next pick falls so late.

I’d be floored if they passed on Witt for him.

Rutschman - 2-2.5 years
Witt - 3-4

Witt should move really quickly for a HS bat. If he doesn’t, I have concerns.

Is this a draft where the Royals try to stock up on bats because of the current struggles in the lower minors with basically all of the high thought of prospects?

Actual real question here.....

Does Witt end up at 3rd or will they do something like try him as a centerfielder?

I could see him at 3rd. Might depend on how confident they are in extending Mondesi.

They’ll let Witt stick at SS until he needs to move. They’ve also talked about moving Mondesi to CF.

I get that but they seem to do these stock up drafts where it'll be pitchers or hitters they don't seem to mix a ton with early picks.

I'm sure Witt can stick at SS just wondering what happens if he's ready in 3 years.

I thought you should draft SS every time if he's highly rated because he can play almost anywhere.

Dozier was a SS. Gordon was a 3B. Bryce Harper was a catcher. You always just draft the best guy and figure it out later.

If he’s ready in 3 years, I think he plays 3B or 2B unless they’ve extended Mondesi.

If they extend Mondesi, I believe they’ll work on moving one of them to CF.

No.

The only way the Royals don’t take Witt is if the Orioles do.

Unless something has changed in the past 24 hours. Everyone in the industry was confident about that until the small chatter earlier after Bleday.

I like the kid who was raised by a MLB player and lived in that world.

Kinda like another player on my favorite football team.
