Yep. And their owners expect to turn a healthy profit. If they can get that by playing it safe, they will.

I mean, what were the QB options for the Giants?

Sign Derrick Carr or Jimmy Grapes? Kinda spinning your wheels with that one, no?

Trade for Lamar Jackson with his ridiculous contract demands? That doesn't seem smart either.

Take a one year rental on a checked-out Aaron Rodgers? Seems pointless.

With so many teams vying for a 1st round QB, who were you going to trade up with and beat out to get one of the top 2 prospects? There's teams in the top 10 right now who are likely looking to move up. You'd have to offer more resources than those teams who sit in a better position to move up.

They're kinda ****ed regardless.

In the NFC there are two teams that as of now look like potential contenders next year - Philly and the 49ers. The Niners will be dependent on Purdy's recovery. Some people might say the Cowoys, but they always tend to implode and have a head coach that's the equivalent of Brandon Staley.

If you are the Giants and Daboll thinks Jones can take another baby step forward, then maybe you make it into the playoffs again and you have a shot because the other 13-14 teams in your conference aren't world beaters either.

The last 20 years the AFC had Mahomes, Big Ben, Brady or Manning representing the AFC for 18 of those years.

Enjoy Mahomes while you can bc it’s ****ing hard not having the guy at QB

You're on the wrong board for that. People here will just scream to draft a QB in the first round and start him because "he can't be any worse". Yeah...the **** he can. And if you take a 1st round QB after going to the playoffs and end up with another high pick...what are you going to do? Pick another one while you kick the guy from the year before to the curb? Build around the guy you drafted?

The Giants literally had no other choice. Now if they want to draft one this year or next year...he can sit for a year or two and take over for Jones if he reverts back to his old ways.

That's a crazy stat. Reminds of a stretch in the NBA when 13 of 16 years the coach of the NBA champs was Greg Popovich or Phil Jackson

His cap hits are:

2023 - $19 million
2024 - $45 million
2025 - $39.5 million
2026 - $56.5 million

And they can cut him after 2024 and only wind up with $27 million in dead cap spread out over the last 2 years.

They’ll be just fine if he’s not great. You give him this year and if he sucks then you draft one.

I can come up with a way to pump about $120 million into that bottom line over the next few seasons...

Sign Andy Dalton for asswipe money, be about as likely to win a meaningful football game as you were with Jones, bank some draft capital and push in hard for a QB in the next couple years.

Ravens FO basically saying - our offer is the best you will get - we'll tag you (non exclusive) and you can go see for yourself. IIRC the Ravens can match any offer - or accept two #1 picks for him.

I think Lamar will see that the Ravens are right. The demands for him are not huge. Guy really needs to get an agent.

I think there's a really good chance the Ravens end up getting picks for him at this point.

Somebody will offer him a stupid contract to lift themselves to relevance. And the Ravens love draft capital. 2 1sts and $40 million in cap space is gonna look awfully nice, especially if the rumors are true that Jackson's looking for a Watson structure in his contract.

I'd make that move 100 times out of 100 over paying him 3-4 years worth of top shelf guaranteed money.

He probably should have taken the ravens offer. I think a good agent would have told him the same thing
