Ten Things About Today's Game Week 10: Tits 35 KC 32

Ten Things About Today’s Game Week 10: Tits 35 KC 32

10. OK, now I’m mad. Choking Losing Pussies! As much as last week was a total team effort, this week was also a total team effort. Total effort to blow a game they had no business losing. We’d probably be in last place if we were in the AFC South, because we can’t seem to figure out how to beat teams like Houston, Indy and the Tits. Total domination in the first quarter and a 10-zip lead. Grandpa Spags -doing his best Grandpa Bob impersonation, looks every bit the defense that pissed away a 21-3 lead in Alex Smiff’s last game. Remember that game? Playoffs two years ago? Couldn’t hold a God Damn lead in the second half and let Derrek Henry run wild? How bout the offense? Sure, Mahomes throws for big yards, but we put the ball on the ground and give up a fumble return for a TD to totally flip the momentum. Watkins and Hill drop critical passes for first down conversions. And we’ll talk about special teams getting off the short special bus this morning. We’ve now lost four straight to the Tits. Andy Reid’s only beaten them once. Once. In his entire career. I thought the Texans game was going to be the one game we just flat out blew this year. But nope. This one is going to sting. A lot. Damn it I’m still mad!

9. Spags was actually worse than Grandpa Bob in this game. Think we’ve figured out how to stop the run? Hell no. Henry goes for 188 and 2 TDs. Well, maybe we can play pass defense. Hell no. Ward gives up a 52 yard bomb in the 2nd quarter. Spags actually shut out the Tits in the first quarter; first time we’ve shut out a team in the first quarter all year. But he made up for it by sucking the rest of the game. Thornhill bounces off Henry like a pinball and gives up a 69 yard run on a basic off tackle play. Chiefs manage to get up by nine with 12 minutes left in the game. A two-score lead. Can they hold it for 12 minutes? Hell no. They let Henry run it down their frickin’ throat, just like the Arrowhead 2017 playoff game. Henry looks like a NCAA Division One running back playing a community college team. Can we stop Ryan Freakin’ Tannehill from scrambling? Hell no. We let him scramble for 37 yards in the second half. And even with all this fail on defense, we still should have won the damn game.

8. On offense, more fail. Bienemy is responsible for teaching our backs ball security. Williams fumble changed the momentum of the game. Chiefs were lucky to go in tied 13-13 at halftime. First quarter: Watkins drops a very catchable pass on third down, ending a drive. Six minutes left in the fourth after catching a 39 yard pass that should have sealed the game, Hill drops two passes in a row. One gets batted up in the air that should have been picked. Mahomes throws for over 400 yards and 3 TDs, but takes a totally unnecessary sack on third down with three minutes left, loses seven yards of field position, then Colquitt and Winchester screw the pooch on the field goal attempt. Choking Losing Pussy Football with a total absence of a killer instinct. Embarrassing Fail.

7. Kelce, Hill and Hardman combined score three TDs. When your QB throws for 446 yards, you should win. When you have nine more first down than your opponent, you should win. When you’re 50% successful on third down conversions, you should win. When you run 29 more plays than your opponent, you should win. When you have 159 more offensive yards than your opponent, you should win. When you have the ball 18 freaking minutes more than your opponent….. DAMN IT….

6. Both teams lost a fumble. Our fumble was much more deadly, putting the Tits back in the game. Both teams had a bunch of penalties. Chiefs has stupid ones like Chris Jones pushing guys in the face. Tits had a pretty clean first half, then Tyler Lewan #77 for the Tits started trying to hand the game to us all by himself. He must have had money bet on KC today. KC had nine penalties for 80 yards. That’s irresponsible back sliding on team discipline. That’s on Andy Reid. And he has done nothing to fix it since September.

5. Dave Toub should be let go after this season. We haven’t had a single punt return or kickoff return for a TD. So specials are not helping, at all. We can't seem to get through a game without penalties on punt returns. We did have Hardman field a punt on his own three yard line before the end of the first half, so we've got that going for us. We did have Buttkicker miss a critical PAT that changed the game strategy. We did have Colquitt chip in with a 26 yard punt, and have him muff a hold, and add on a intentional grounding when he panicked when the snap hit him in the freaking feet. His game is slipping, he's old and makes a shit ton of money. Time to send him on his way with a gold watch and some pudding at the end of the year. He’s a veteran player, and veteran players should not piss their pants like that when the game is on the line. On the final FG attempt, the guy who blocked the punt was offsides, but the Ref’s had a plane to catch, so…no call. Never should have come to that anyway. Game was lost when they puked up the lead with less than :30.

4. Schwartz lost his injury free streak. At least he had the gonads to suck it up and come back in and play out the rest of the game. Cam Erving got his ass beat on several occasions. We lost Rankin-Canadian Doc’s backup- when they carted him off the field. Ogbah left with a shoulder or chest injury, so now we’re missing both Ogbah and Okafor. Great.

3. Chris Jones was gimping around in the second half. Since we’re running out of guys and they can’t rotate, our D-linemen looked gassed in the fourth quarter, especially when the Tits went to the hurry up offense. When you have twice as many sacks as your opponent, you should win. In the Tits final scoring drive Fenton makes a nice play to break up a pass, then freaking FALLS DOWN to allow the game winning TD. Very Grandpa Bob-like defensive stand. Once again, Andy put the game in Spag’s hands to win it, and he totally shits the bed.

2. Total fail on coaching. Total let down after last week. Pissing away this game, to an AFC opponent, not only totally wipes away the progress from beating the Vikes last week, but even worse, this is a CONFERENCE LOSS, which will probably end up making us play in the first round of the playoffs, on the road somewhere. IF they can pull their heads out of their asses, get it together and actually MAKE the playoffs. After today, I seriously have my doubts.

1. I can’t even bring myself to listen to Andy’s after game presser. Here, let me guess: “We didn’t get the job done. We can’t turn the ball over. We’ve got to be better on special teams. We’ve got a lot of guys hurt. Pat played well coming back but he was rusty, and we dropped too many passes. We have too many penalties. We’ll fix all of this, because we look forward to the challenge of playing the Mexican Chargers on Monday Night Football next week....blah blah blah." I need a Zanex and a handful of Tums. I need to go and be mad somewhere for awhile now.

I'm shocked at how bad special teams has shit the bed this year. Can't help but wonder if anyone on special teams is going to be the sacrificial lamb after all of today's ST snafus. Kind of doubt it, but if so, it'll happen in the next couple of days.

Truly insightful stuff Since you are espousing such useful football knowledge....riddle me this Bman. How the **** does T Hill get called for OPI on Kelce’s TD(I called THAT play as the turning point in the game!!) in the 1st qtr when Gronk scored like a jillion TDs with the Hobbits (Edelman, Amendola and Woodhead) doing the EXACT ****ing thing? Admit it.... Bill’s entire offense is based on pick plays that the rest of the League can’t run! Surely someone as “objective” as you can say that...can’t you? Mmm hmm. Thought so.

Look pretty blatant to me he ran straight into him well over 1 yd, the defender has a right hold his ground. Not sure Chief run less pick play than Patriots or Saints. Not sure I see a ton of them get called either way. We had a blatant no called in the Ravens game last week, way it goes.

BTW wasn't that play in the drive that resulted from non fumble / fumble. If it was not sure I would cry to hard about that one.

I thought you were going to talk about how the ref just let defenders take shots at Kelce and ride him like a pony like they use to with Gronk because hes bigger than them. That I buy, teh OPI was blatant and unneeded by Hill.

I have been lurking around the board for while and thought I would post my thoughts as an outsider (Pats fan) here are my takeaways from the game / season / reading thru this board posts:

1.) Last year the Chiefs took the leagues by storm with it's high powered offense and ended as the number one seed in the AFC. One year later, guess what? No one is surprised and no one unders estimates the Chief's. At the beginning of the year every team circled their game against KC as chance to prove themselves. Every team is going to bring their A-game, especially the middling and dregs of the league. Its their superbowl, better get used to it. That's what I saw today. Titans were pumped to get their chance to knock of the "mighty" chiefs and they didn't quit until they did.

2.) Other teams have had a year to understand what KC does and adapt to it. There is nothing revolutionary about what the Chief's do this year or last. They are loaded with talent on offense, they are just straight up more talented, this team made Matt Moore look good. Pat is a force but I believe this board seriously underestimates how much Pat has to work with and how much better he is because of it. That being said KC reminds me of the "greatest show on turf" or the "Manning Colts". High flying as long as they don't get punched in the mouth or jammed at the line.

3.) Chiefs were horribly undisciplined today, on the drives I watched it looked like Mahomes had to drive the fields twice as they kept moving backwards on undisciplined football.

4.) I saw a lot of posts about KC's fumble return for 6 being the turning point in the game. Yet I have seen no posts on the free 3+ points that the officials gifted KC on Tannahill non-fumble. Hard nose, disciplined, focused teams overcome bad officiating. I have noticed this board is the first to jump all over the officials for biased officiating yet go silent when they are the beneficiaries, which seems to me to be more often than not. Pat / Chiefs are front and center of the NFL they will likely get the close calls, it's the way seems to always work. Just don't act like your still getting screwed.

5.) The chiefs D made Ryan Tannehill look like a Pro-Bowl QB. This is the same QB that was cast off from a AFC East team that I have read countlessly here has allowed the Patriots to remain dominant for so long with no competition. Competent defense make bad teams look bad and give you a chance against a good team. Every year the Patriots made the opposing trash QB look like this they went nowhere in the playoffs. Maybe the Chiefs will pull it together but if it was my team I would not feel good about it.

6.) Someone pointed out that Chiefs have now lost to three of Biil's tree coaches and it made me think. It is weird but I don't worry as much about playing KC / Andy the way I do some other teams. The teams that alway give the Pats the most trouble the teams that have coaches that hate bill. (Rex, John H, ect..) John H said he built his team to beat two team the Steelers and the Patriots. The ones that usually lose are the ones that respect him too much (Billy O will likely never beat him because of this). Andy doesn't hate Bill , I think the opposite I believe they are friends. Back when Andy was in Philly he and Bill has a record for most consecutive years with a trade at the draft. Well one year it was coming to the end of the draft and they had not traded with each other and the record was in jeopardy; so what did they do? They both made trades that made no sense with each other just to keep the record going. Not sure Rex and Bill ever had that kind of relationship. I am not saying Bill completely has Andy's number but I feel the respect thing plays into the Bill's favor.

7.) It is unfortunate that Chiefs are wasting Mahomes prime years. When I say prime I don't mean i think he is going to have a drop off anytime soon, though we will have to watch his durability, not his toughness. What I mean by prime years is his rookie contract years. This team a year ago was loaded with pro-bowl talent with rookie salaries. This year its started to take on some salary weight and jettisoned a pro-ball RB for no compensation, When they sign Pat to be the highest paid QB in the league we will see how long they can maintain his all star cast around him. You think the D is bad now just wait until they take on that contact and try to have to balance his supporting cast. You will be screaming for WR to not waste Pat's years and then wondering why the D is still so bad. People underestimate how much Brady taking team friendly deals has allowed the Patriots to maintain their competitiveness. I doubt the rookies on this team will do the same for the chiefs. If not it will be very difficult for them to maintain any consistency as they will be putting out one fire after another with little resources to do so.

8.) Some people ask why do Patriots fans read thru other teams boards, like myself. I can tell you as Pats fan I do it because it far more interesting to see the excitement and passion of a team just starting to get success vs a team that has just been good for as long a the Pats have been. I am really not trying to be smug but there is not a lot to argue about with the Patriots. We can scream and yell about this player or that player, or that they didn't do enough to support Tom, or the improve eth D. But it's pretty hard to complain about any of the coaching or the GM given the track record. The counter argument to any complaint is always "in bill we trust" and it hard to argue with after all these years, as boring as it is.

yep

I vowed not to go on CP after the loss because it stung so much. I then spoke to a close friend who had just gotten out of a hospital after being close to committing suicide. It put things in some sobering perspective.

This loss sucked and was inexcusable. We found numerous ways to creatively beat ourselves. Our defense isn’t remotely fixed as it lacks consistency but it does show sparks of being effective.

I’m still pretty optimistic on this season. A tight win against the Vikings and loss against the Titans doesn’t really change that.

Fumbles have cost this team three of the four games. This team has fumbled more this year than any year i remember. They may have done more but not like this in the most inopportune time.

With a clean game turnover wise Chiefs win every game they play. Even with this putrid defense.

I agree totally. Worst loss the Chiefs have had in awhile....only because it's a game the Chiefs SHOULD have won.

Good morning from a Titans fan...

First, for some reason, this team going back to the Jeff Fisher coached days seems to have KC's number. I can't explain it. It's like we are destined to lose against the Colts regardless if the QB is Manning, Luck or some scrub no one has ever heard of.

The Titans are the ultimate up-and-down team over the last few years. And this year began with us pretty much closing the door on the Marcus Mariota era, a guy everybody likes but isn't apparently up for the long term starting job. We got Ryan Tannehill as a really good quality backup who could still start and now he's 3-1 and has the full confidence of everyone (at least right now). That 2 point conversion at the end was the first successful one in four years...and he had to literally get his head knocked on a swivel in a classic "me-vs-you" gut check on the goal line.

Patrick Mahomes is ridiculous. Former Titans great Eddie George said this week that Mahomes reminds him of Michael Jordan. That jump throw for a TD was insane. Never EVER complain about having that guy on your team.

If there is a soft underbelly of the Chiefs, it may be the defense. You can't allow Derrick Henry to run all over you like that. Because he will. And right now he's running angry, literally dragging people along for extra yardage. And Corey Davis, one of our best receivers was out yesterday and the rest of the team still stepped up.

The Titans defense is for real which is important since they had their hands full all day trying to contain Mahomes and keep up with Hill, Kelsey & Co, often not succeeding. And our starting corner Malcolm Butler broke his wrist last week and is on IR.

Finally, thank you for filling in the gaps on our apathetic fan base by spending lots of money in our city and patronizing our vibrant Lower Broadway tourist district. We've gotten used to this in Nashville since we've been a .500 football club over the last several years.

Thanks for the write-up, George. It's nice to know another long standing fan/mean old man was pissed after that game.

I'm going to echo one item in your post, the ST play. Not only have we not had a return taken to the house this year, I can't think of a single blocked punt or FG attempt. I'd be hard pressed to think of any great ST play that hasn't been called back for a hold, block in the back, or some other dofus action. That's on Toub. I don't have any problem not using Hill as a PR man, but there has to be someone better than Hardman. Hell, use Pringle, one of our 38 RBs that sit on the bench, or even Sorenson. At least Dirty Dan wouldn't field a punt at the 3. That's on Toub, too.

I probably say this every week but its still early enough to where we can hopefully get this crap out of our system. if this happens at the end of the season were screwed. we still have time and now we have a bye to think about it.

We gave yesterday away. I am not calling for anyone's head but I wouldn't lose to much sleep over it if anything happened.

Great write-up GBF!
