I normally support the media as a critical watchdog. But I agree in this event too many have reached for the edge of the confidence interval as the worst case. I've seen it in my own community where the curve has clearly flattened and the projections have plummeted, but the headlines make no mention of this and even still talk about rationing care.
CNN has been abysmal, seeking to score political points at every turn. You could read the headlines in the NYT this morning and believe we are Italy in early March. Good news on the improving data is grudgingly acknowledged, if at all. Distancing has clearly been effective and that should be the headline. |

Yeah and NY will be bad, is bad, but not nearly what had been expected. No care rationing. Certainly NY, NJ, New Orleans and Detroit are bad. But they act as though there's no end in sight and as though the outlook is worsening when in fact it's much improved.

I don’t get it. You could see that the trends were upsetting the projections last week. At least I could and I posted as much. And I’m just some dude on a Chiefs fan forum with a spreadsheet I wrote in 15 minutes.

Social distancing worked better than the models expected it to work?

Apparently they do think the summer will help because I keep hearing they are worried about the fall when temps get cooler. It's not secret that viruses do better in colder weather but many have been reluctant to say warmer temps will help. Can't see how you have it both ways?
