Frank Clark ****ing sucks

Guy has done NOTHING in two games. Barely any pressures to speak of against trash OTs.

Yeah, I'm in bitchy gameday mode. Don't care. I'm tired of paying out the ass for defensive players who don't make plays.

At least Justin Houston could dominate against bad teams after we paid him.

For example if Dee Ford stays healthier playing less snaps and proceeds to put up better numbers in half the snaps that kinda makes the Chiefs look like idiots.

Veach is that guy that if he goes bargain shopping he does pretty solid. Ward, Ogbah etc etc.

But the minute he has bank to go spend he uses it on things that turn into lemons.

And that only reaffirms to me how useless PFF is because I promise you that I’ve got more invested in knowing how to evaluate a player than whoever is doing that evaluation.

Regardless we’re paying a lot of money for Frank. Too bad he’s hurt and underperforming

But would you pay that 1-trick $17 million a year? Or $18 million on the franchise tag?

I wouldn’t.

Exactly! That would seem rather irresponsible.

If the alternative is paying 20 mil a year and giving up a 1st and a 2nd round pick? Yeah I'd franchise him and use that saved money and those picks elsewhere. You can find run stoppers and other players to supplement Ford's weaknesses there. Case in point...what the 49ers are doing.

If I thought one trick pony could put up 23 hurries, 17 QB knockdowns, 13 sacks and 7 FF over the course if a contract, then id easily pay him 17-18 million a year. Id rather pay 17-18 million for that instead of 20.5 million a year 1st rounder and 2nd rounder for a guy that is probably a slightly lesser pass rusher, not much less, and just a little bit better run defender.

With that being said, I dont think that Dee Ford will have that kind of production again and it surprises the shit out of me that Dee Ford hasn't missed a game. So if I had to pick between these options:

1. Dee Ford long term 5 yr $85.5 mil
2. Dee Ford franchise tag
3. Frank Clark give up 1st 2nd rnd draft pick and 5 yr $104 mil contract. Basically get our 2nd rounder back.
4. Keep Houston on his contract
5. None of the Aabove

This is how I rank my options

4
5
2
3
1

So in my opinion we didnt choose the worst option, but it was the 2nd worst.

And now Frank's out because he some how hurt hus neck, so after Sunday, Clark will have missed more games than Ford this year.

Lol have to love how everybody on CP has hindsight on their side.

Like anybody could’ve predicted this happening with one of the leagues best and most consistent edge rushers over the last few years.

So we just need to suck and get top 10 picks for the next few years and get good DL like Armstead, Bosa and Buckner?

Sounds easy

Yeah because the top 10 of the first round is the only round you can acquire good defensive talent. Good post.
