Some figures regarding age distribution and severity of the symptoms in Italy:
21% of the infected people are hospitalized, 12% are in intensive care (intubated). No one in the 0-18 age group ended up in intensive care, 10% are between 19 and 50 years old, 46% are between 51 and 70 years old and 44% are over 70 years old. Could not find the total figures for today. They were 9.172 on sunday so I guess they must be approaching 15.000. Anyone interested can do some calculations. The biggest issue we are going to have with the vast spread of it in this country is simple...employers do not want people working remotely or taking days off. Tons of jobs can be done remotely these days yet they don't want you doing that because bosses have 0 trust in that.
The nature of work and employees is going to be a massive issue. |

As I said previously the problem with this Virus it is not the mortality rate of patients who received proper care.
The problem happens when hospitals get overwhelmed, and intensive care can no longer be granted to the 12% who requires forced ventilation to survive. That's why - instead of panicking - a responsible behavior of the population is the only way to keep this disease from spreading too quickly and becoming a real problem. |

Yes, really. You don't get to ignore numbers because you don't like them. Or do you dispute the numbers?
