Would you give Jones 3/100m or trade him?

We might as well start the conversation.

Aaron Donald got a 3 year extension worth 95m and Jones won’t/shouldn’t accept a penny less.

We can probably get the equivalent of 2 firsts if we trade him.

Poll will be up in a minute…

Pay him fair market value, but make sure you have out years at the end of that contract that you can get out of. You don't typically wanna pay a guy into his 30's, especially a D-Lineman. He's what? 28 now. I have no problem with extending him and paying him for his age 29, 30 & 31 seasons. I wouldn't go beyond that under any circumstance.

Aaron Donald is a bit of a cautionary tale. He played last year and balled out in his age 30 season. This year, his age 31 season, he dealt with some injuries but there was a pretty large drop off in his play overall. Think you're gonna see him continue to trend down. The Rams (unless he decides to retire) can't really get out of that contract until 2025. If they try to cut him in 2024, they'll still have almost $29 mil. in dead cap.

For the above reasons, I honestly see the Chiefs letting him play out the last year of his deal (his age 29 season) and then letting him walk. If he demands to be extended and paid this off-season, Chiefs will likely look for a trade partner and get as much draft capital for him as they can.

But, again, I would be fine with a small extension and keeping him through his age 31 season, but wouldn't go beyond that. The Chiefs will end up regretting it if they do.

Just my .02

I think Veach will give Jones the best deal he thinks the Chiefs can do and not hurt the franchise, not a lot of bickering. The same as he did with Tyreek, once Tyreek said no, they worked with Teams and Tyreek to get a trade done. Not much different here, if Jones wants a huge payday, he will be traded, if he wants a great payday but stay with the Chiefs, that is his choice.

I'd wait another 3 weeks before coming to any firm conclusion on the offense without Hill in crunch time.

are you implying that someone else is going to catch a long TD in the Divisional round to help you win, but then tip a catchable in OT that loses you the game the next week?

I think this is the correct course.

Pay him if you can make it work. If he wants to blow it out completely, call up Atlanta and see if they wanna give us their first for him.

Because depth gets you thru the regular season.

Whether you need that "dude" come playoff time is yet to be seen.

Depth gets you through the playoffs as well. Injuries don’t stop at the end of the regular season.

I think we've seen the offense in 'crunch time' enough this year to know what they can and can't do.

It's completely ****ing reeruned to suggest 'well, if they lose in the playoffs, then they made the wrong decision and we should have kept and paid Hill'

Now maybe that's not what you're saying exactly, but that's how I read it and it seemed to be what you were implying.

If you weren't, nevermind.

Getting rid of Tyreek at his peak value was the best decision overall for this team. The offense is more dynamic now and that is in no small part because Mahomes has matured and gets everyone involved vs forcing it to Hill.

Small sample size, you may need force multipliers.

Now, the Chiefs have the ultimate one at QB, but he's gotta do it.

It would be bad no doubt. Without that pass rush our secondary would have been William Bartee bad this year.

Because beating the Bills the week before with 13 seconds, a Super Bowl victory and another Super Bowl appearance weren't dynamic. Suuuuure.
