I actually kind of respect that (the "playing for the enemy" part).

He's full of shit. If the Chiefs offered him the highest RB contract, it'd be all, "Man, when I was a Raider I definitely hated the Chiefs but I had so much respect for them and wanted to be a part of winning! So glad to be wearing red now! Go Chiefs!"

What he means is he wasn't about to settle for a small contract and felt insulted.

We are seriously to believe that Veach was going to invest significantly in a back-up RB?

Jacobs is full of shit.

They offered him a mid vet contract to match his production last season. He would have been a hell of a pair with Pacheco.

I bet he did try to sign him.

Look at the type of RBs Veach chose…battering rams like Jacobs…but Jacobs can do the other stuff, as well.

I’d have loved to have signed him.

I bet he lacked confidence that he would make the team. Super Bowl multiple winners have high standards.

Ya like it would be a bad thing.

Imagine if we ended up drafting some great RB in the future, like an Adrian Peterson type or something. People would act like it would be the end of the world to pay a player like that 12m/yr or whatever it would be now.

No way we would ever want to destroy our cap situation by paying a running back that much.

No matter how good he was. Today’s NFL does not emphasize running backs if you’re trying to build a winner.
