Do you really take some time to appreciate where we are?

Became a Chiefs fan in the early 90's when Word, Okoye, DT, Smith was here.

Looking back on 30+ years with this team. I remember the 97 playoffs like it was yesterday when we went 13-3 and the ****ing Vaseline greased up donkey dicks beat us in Arrowhead and what an absolute gut punch that was.

So I wanna share something here. I went through some awful shit in my teen years with multiple friends being killed and a lot of other stuff in my life.

One thing I really learned from loss, was how to appreciate when things were truly good.

As a fan, sometimes I just sit and think it's wild for us to be here in this position. Where we're the absolute center of every sports show, every commentator, all the hate we get (which I love), and the fact that from top to bottom we have the best organization in the NFL.

Bro it feels weird to even type that with all the Carl Peterson years (some weren't that bad but some were truly awful).

You guys don't know this but I was friends with Jovan Belcher and I remember the day the news hit and before I even saw the name I knew. Don't ask me how but I did. He used to text me about upgrades for his car and send me pics and vice versa.

I'm friends with several former Chiefs players and sometimes we talk about how crazy this time is.

Anyway, the point is......man I hope you guys really take all this in right now because we will never get it again like this.

From Pat, to Andy, Trav, this defense, everything. There are fans for teams for 50+ years that die and never see a single Lombardi. EVER. We've seen 3 in four years. And hopefully the only 3peat to ever happen.

Just a reminder to really be present. This is some damn good times to be a Chiefs fan, fellas.

I finally understand this:

THIS!

Now I'm like "the regular season is fun....but it doesn't matter until the playoffs start".

It's hard to articulate but everyone is so spot on in that we'd be attached to regular season wins, and even just some good series here or there.

Now, the shift is "this is all window dressing until it comes nut cutting time".

I actually gave up early in 2016 or so. I quit CP and had basically resigned myself to dying without ever seeing the Chiefs win an AFCCG let alone a SB. For me, it's all about Mahomes now. He's the reason I came back.

Herm broke me of watching every game no matter what, the home opener of 2011 broke me of ever spending money on tickets without supreme confidence they could compete (2018 AFCCG was the first game minus some free tickets), and somewhere along the way during the Alex Smith years I basically gave up on the NFL... I had already been watching more CFB than the NFL, and really didn't watch much at all for a few years outside of the CG and SB weekends.

And once Mahomes retires, outside of a Favre-Rodgers type of hand off, I'll probably be done with the NFL completely and leave on the highest note possible. Who knows what the league will look like by then though, better or worse.

When you remember people like coach Paul Wiggin or Herman Heard or Jackie Battle or Larry Brunson or Jerry Blanton, you know you have witnessed some horrendous shit as a Chiefs fan for a long time.

Funny thing is I had to listen to a bunch of shit for years on the Cowboys from my best friends and a little from Dolphins, Steelers and Raiders fans.

Boy oh boy have the tables turned.

Offensive stats are down terribly. I've found my self locked in my bedroom, looping my fav playlist over and over: "Alone Again Naturally", "Hurt", "Nothing Compares 2 U", mixed with a few songs by Radiohead, The Smiths, Nick Drake, and Joy Division...so yeah, it's all good. Things can't get any worse, right?

My football sports dream was to just see the chiefs in a Super Bowl. Not even win it, but just see them play in a Super Bowl. I didn’t have any hope until that week 1 Chargers game in 2018.

Crazy i’ve seen 4 and we’re likely going to get more.

Thank you Pat.

But yeah, overall I don't stress the small stuff or even some of the big stuff, and for the most part just enjoy the ride.
True story...I was so nervous during that second Bengals AFC championship game I pounded so many beers I couldn't remember how the game ended when I woke up. I remembered we won, but I had to watch the condensed replay to see HOW we won lmao. I couldn't fathom the amount of never-ending shit we would've heard if we lost that game.

I remember the days when I thought I'd die of old age before I ever saw this team win another playoff game. They really weren't all that long ago. Over two decades of wretched suck, when we generally fielded good teams, only to see them lose close games for maddening reasons to lesser teams in the playoffs, always.

That last loss to the Colts in 2014 nearly broke me. Blowing that huge lead, against those hellspawn ****s, was cruelty upon cruelty. To me, the most emotionally satisfying playoff win during the Mahomes era isn't a Super Bowl or the 13 second Buffalo game - it was when we FINALLY got that goddamn ****ing blue monkey off our backs and beat them in a playoff game that we all knew we should win but in the past never did. I was like a whipped dog watching that game, absolutely terrified, just waiting for shit to go sideways at the end. And then it finally, mercifully, didn't happen. I cried real tears after that one. That was when I knew the sky was truly the limit. It didn't happen that year, but we didn't have long to wait.

Yeah the loss to the Colts in Jan 2014 almost made me quit watching. That one still hurts.

For over 20 years it looked like the Chiefs would never win another playoff game. I'm sure the Bill and Bengals feel similar though they haven't had the SB success. Point is, a franchise QB can change the fortunes of the lowliest of franchises.
