Why Patrick Mahomes is enacting a ‘(bleep) it’ mentality to lead Chiefs’ offense
Instead of blaming the OL or WR's sounds like he has just gotten smarter but with that comes less risk taking.

I just said this in the Saints thread, but we're going to see a different version of Mahomes on Monday Night, it'll be more precise in the pocket like his take on how Marino would've played in this generation. The Rice injury, may have had a silver lining if it goes down how I think it will.

Definitely don’t love that quote. It also is probably a factor in the terrible interceptions. If he’s operating where the coverage dictates a play won’t be there then by extension he’s expecting someone to be open based on the pre snap coverage which just isn’t always going to be the case. |

This article hits on what has been my latest concerns with him. Despite the increase in INTs I have the sense in watching him that he has lost a lot of his killer mentality of pressing the ball down the field. I realize a lot the opposing defenses were taking this away, but I have been getting the sense that he was too quick to take what they were giving rather than what he wanted. In a nutshell he was becoming more like Alex in a bit of his approach. I think this has been some of the issue in the red zone as well. He has had a very low appetite at throwing in the end zone in small windows. I fully realize that much of this is playing smart, but like the article states, I think the balance has tilted a bit too conservative.

I really want Mahomes to go hard on the "**** it, sling it" attitude in the regular season. We are going to make the post season regardless so we should treat our regular season games as a practice for the games that really matter. He hasn't had the weapons available to him to slug it 60 yards for some time so I want to see him make at least 1 attempt at it per game. If it's intercepted the other team will likely get the ball back in their territory anyway. If we are in a position where we need to use those plays in the post season to keep the dream alive then it's better to have him and Worthy fully prepped for it, rather than it being a forced, unplanned thing.
