Sometimes it’s fun to pump sunshine and rainbows. This is absolutely the time.
Seeing stuff like Salvy randomly stopping to play wiffle ball in a KC neighborhood…. It’s just so cool, and so many of us have grown accustomed to living with so much cynicism, and no doubt about it, living and navigating this world isn’t easy, but with regard to sports and the joy it brings, we are absolutely living in a golden period. And I know it sounds sanctimonious to some people in the area who feel “left out”, or they’re not Kansas people. I get it. But please, don’t take my sunshine away… It’s pretty cool to live in flyover country and have a solid life here, while enjoying the spotlight of the bigger nation shining on our area from time to time for the fun reason of athletics, and we’ve got that covered in spades right now. Chiefs are great, Royals are winning, Jayhawks are flying high…. It’s a year long event of nearly daily relevance that satiates the mundanity of life, filling us with vicarious joy and the thrill of fandom. What a time to be alive… |
