I think I like that idea. Conner demonstrated some excellent athleticism in his limited snaps last year.
Aside from blowing the fumble recovery, didn't Conner have a great game against the Bills in the playoffs?

Stud. As suspected, slower potential Snead replacement.

11th highest rated safety per PFF last. year.

Chamarri Conner in the 2023 playoffs:

108 coverage snaps
10 targets
6 receptions allowed, 44 yards
2 first downs allowed

Sorry, can't link.

I'm not convinced he's slower than Sneed.

Almost certainly less physical (Steve Atwater may have been less physical) but slower? That remains to be seen. I have no idea how he timed, but the kid played FAST.

As I said late last season, I liked what I saw from him far more than I liked what I saw from Cook. He seemed tailor made to be a single-high sort of conventional FS. He covered an incredible amount of ground.

Sneed ran a 4.37 vs 4.51 for Connor.

With you on playing speed being comparable.

Connor was my pick for breakout player on defense this season. He looked really good late last season and in the playoffs.

I don't watch college football so I do not know much about the players coming in. I tend to wait till week 12 to make a judgment.

Sneed's been playing on an iffy knee for almost his entire NFL career. I think that 4.37 is a fond memory.

I think the difference would be the recovery speed not the quickness. Sneed could always occasionally be beaten early, but he'd eat that space up pretty quick.

No idea if Connor could, but i guess it's moot as we're just not going to use him the same way.
