Good thought, but i think we have enough depth at guard on this team. He is our starting Center entering Week 1.

Also agree we draft a center mid rounds to compete and take over in 2022.

No offense but the fact that a guy who was forced into retirement because of neck and ankle injuries and has played 30 games since 2015 is for some reason a leading the competition to start doesn't inspire much confidence. The fact that the guy he's mainly in competition with was an average player before taking a whole season off last year and has never in his career started a whole season inspires even less confidence.

Yea we’re pretty much doomed at RG when last years starter is now 3rd string

Your question about Blythe was just a reason for you to bitch about Long some more. You aren’t fooling anybody.

Who said we're doomed? Stop projecting broseph.

I'd rather start Blythe at RG than Long. What's wrong with that?

You'll change your mind rather quickly when the season starts.

I don't think you understand just how good Long is when healthy, which by all accounts, he is.

Sure. Hopefully. Doubt it though. You don't go from being injured and ineffective for 5 straight years to healthy and great again just because you took a year off. Especially when one of the injuries was a neck injury.

We have 3 guys that can adequately play RG. How much more “confidence” do you need? And your last sentence just proves my point. This isn’t about Blythe who was obviously signed to play C. It’s about Long and another chance to bitch about him.

No, it's that Blythe has played RG before and is a great bargain so we can still afford to get Reiter back or get a rookie to start.

And you disagree counting on a player who last started more than 10 games in 2015 is not a safe bet to make? Interesting.

Long is a pro bowler when healthy. He took a year off to train and get his body right.

It's merely a question of whether or not it worked.

If he's healthy, he's the best player on the line not named Thuney, regardless of position.

In that presser he looked more like a TE than a G. He looked much smaller than he did and that's not uncommon for retired lineman. Many of these guys have to try to keep that extra 30-40 lbs of weight on.

It just doesn't look like he kept up that eating/exercise routine like Dr. Tardif did...

I have the same train of thought you had to Long prior to us signing him which is

Neck
Shoulder and elbow
Hip, ankle, and foot

NO ****ing way should they even look at this guy.

Its going to be a legitimate miracle if he not only plays more than 10 games this year but is good.

Players that have been bad and injured since 2015 do not magically become healthy and good again.

Reiter is a goner. This signing took his place as the “good enough till we upgrade” center.

His best year in terms of PFF was in 2018 when he played RG, though...so it’s possibly that’s where he ends up if a rookie wins the starting center job and Long/LDT don’t cement themselves at RG.
