Chiefs the only team......

......to have five Hall of Famers on their defense all there together.

When the Chiefs played in the first SB they had future Hall of Famers.....

Emmitt Thomas
Buck Buchanon
Bobby Bell
Willie Laneir
Johnny Robinson

.....on the defense.

Those great 60's Packers teams had four....

Willie Davis
Ray Nitzche
Willie Wood
Herb Adderley

That great Steel Curtain D in the 70's for the Steelers

Mean Joe Green
Jack Lambert
Jack Ham
Mel Blount

I can't think of any other defense that rivals those when it comes to HOFers on that D together.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
Remember the movie M*A*S*H? Remember the football game? Well that speedy little guy running all over the place.....Chiefs Nolan "Super Gnat" Smith, he was a 9.4 sprinter while at Tennessee State.
What franchise can compare to the Chiefs running backs? A Tank, a Truck, a Priest, a Nigerian Nightmare, two Heisman winners, a Count, a Podolak.
What would the single most important play be in Texans/Chief history?
How about SB IV when WR Otis Taylor gets by the Vikes Herschel McBee to score the TD that pretty much put the Vikes away.
This is a little hard to believe.
1960 Fleer #73 Abner Haynes RC Rookie GAI 9 MINT
$371.25
$375.00
I have that card, but, noway I could let it go.
The Chiefs Offense has 3 (maybe 4 or more) on their way to the Hall of Fame.
Hall of Fame Trajectory: Mahomes, Kelce, Hill
Possible Hall of Famer: LeSean McCoy (Terrell Davis made it with 4 good seasons), Schwartz (Needs to continue to be All Pro for a few more seasons to be in the conversation)
Way too early to tell either way: Thompson, Hardman
The first Super Bowl was actually Super Bowl 4. The first three were titled The AFL/NFL Championship Game.Willie Lanier didn't play in Super Bowl 1. He was a rookie the next year.
Agree with your first few categories. I love the upside of Thompson and Hardman but they don’t even qualify yet for a mention of any sort in a HOF thread.
That’s why I put them in the “too early category”.
If either ends up being a Hall of Fame talent, they’re in the perfect offense to show what they can do. Reid and Mahomes will get the most out of both, whatever their ceiling is.
The 1969 Chiefs had 6 HOFers on defense. 2 at each level.
2 DL: Buchanan & Culp
2 LB: Bell & Lanier
2 DB: Thomas & Robinson
Then you have to put every rookie in the NFL in that category. That’s technically correct but I’d rather let them get a few seasons under them and then see.
That was a team for the ages ...
On several occasions, Lenny has said that the Miami loss broke that team and they were never able to recover. I've never understood what he meant by that ... so if anyone knows, please share.
As for the defense ... for a while, I thought we were on our way to creating a similar roster with Houston, Hali, Berry, and Poe but it never materialized.
