great write up George pretty much spot on.

I think the only thing I wish we would do more ( which I understand why we don't) is if Patty kept the pedal down the second half of the game. You can tell he is more ( managing) the game for the second half of the games the last two weeks.

When he is aggressive they just fly down the field. he had 277 at half time . I think he could easily get 400 plus most every week but just decides to take it easy. People will say how we don't score much in the second half but it looks like they are just trying to milk the clock.

It looks like the refs are serious about protecting him, so he’s kind of a “made man” like Tommy Boy and the Five Head used to be.
Throwing a penalty flag after Mahomes gets slammed to the ground isn't exactly protecting him.

2. Kudos to Andy as to how he handled the last two minutes. The third down screen to Williams was a perfect call. There’s been so many games where one first down would salt it away, and the Chiefs under Huard, or Alex Smith or whoever, didn’t have the balls to put the game in the QBs hands and let him win it. I’m still having to alter my thinking to factor in we have the league MVP, and this guy is nothing we’ve seen around these parts since Joe Montana. Andy seemed really fired up coming off the field after the game. I think if we can get him to a Super Bowl this year, he’ll wind up in the Pro Football HOF.
I firmly believe that Mahomes saved us from the Reid game that happens once a season where he snatches defeat from the jaws of victory. When we got the ball with 2:01 in the 4th he made an error and called a run. It burned 4 seconds and we went to the 2-minute warning. He absolutely should have called a pass and let Mahomes try and grab a big gain. It wouldn't have mattered if it was incomplete, and the chances of Mahomes throwing a pick are probably lower than the chance of a fumble from the RB (unless it was K. Hunt). I think Andy went conservative a little too soon considering the Ravens had been moving the ball with ease in the 4th.

I'm starting to take comfort that mahomes might be just the guy to counter Reid's game management problems. Yesterday was the most fired up I've seen mahomes. Calling his teammates out for bad snaps and protections. Steaming mad at Andy's timeout at the end. Telling Reid to call that brilliant screen pass to seal the game. This is exactly what Reid needs and it's equally cool to watch Reid show that much trust in his qb.

Reading George's write-ups is like watching PMII throw, always entertaining.

I'm a little concerned about being held scoreless in the 1st again. We need to come out with the whooping stick, lay 21 or so on our opponents in the 1st and then see what they have to do to counter. We can't afford to let the other guys dictate our D.

That said, I'm beginning to think Ogbah might have been the steal of the off season.

Here's what the Baltimore Sun Newspaper is saying this AM. They're worried about the Ravens pass coverage. Hey man, don't sweat it. PMII does that to everyone...

Problem next week is that the Chargers play Miami, hard to lose that game, but if it happens I'll get a good laugh out of our division this year.

10. Home openers are always great no matter what year it is......and the new seats in the upper deck were a bright stunning red, which made the “sea of red” seem even redder.

I had to struggle to see just ONE purple wearing Ravens' fan. The place looked like a bloody Kotex it was so red!

8. Two weeks in a row KC came out sluggish and got shut out in the first quarter.

They seem to start slow often these last few years, then adjust and crank it up. I wonder if they let teams get over excited and winded then us it against them?

7. I was impressed with Lamar Jackson.

If this guys learns to be accurate, watch out. Did you see him give Frank Clark a piggy back ride? Dude is strong as hell too.

6. Mahomes does some risky gunslinging too, but he’s getting better at protecting the football. He was only sacked once.
Besides the spectacular TDs to Robinson and Hardman, he threw a pass to Sammy Watkins that just stuck in his hands like a Fred Biletnikoff stickum job. Kelce had seven catches for 89 yards and several important chunk plays. In all eight guys caught passes, including a Byron Pringle sighting.
Mahomes has a 374 yard day with three TDs and ZERO picks.

Watkins dropped a critical pass late in the game on 3rd down that would have helped in wearing down the clock.
Kelce was a silent hero, catching I think 3 or 4 3rd down conversions.
Mahomes is just really superhuman at this point.

5. Not sure what to think of Spags defense so far.

I give it a C+/B-. Still poor on QB pressure and vulnerable to the run. Tackling has been most improved but they got a little sloppy against the Ravens on the run. Dirty Dan probably had the worst performance on D as he missed tackles, was out of position and really did nothing but get in the way. The two defensive players who let up the Hail Mary passes earn a black mark as well.

4. Ogbah out played him today with two sacks and several pressures.

He was MVP on D for sure and some of these high priced acquisitions need to start stepping up. I think Tyrann missed an INT also.

3. Another mixed bag for special teams. Buttkicker missed an extra point. and no holding or block in the back penalties on punt returns. Penalties were actually better this week.

We had not a single KO return and just 1 punt return so that was at least 3 less penalties. Butker has a errant kick now and then but overall he is money. The guy who concerns mean is Colquitt-he seems to have really fallen far and can't drop a punt inside the 15-20 nor kick a bomb when pinned down deep in our own territory. His average sucks.

Also people were bitching about Mecole Hardman doing a fair catch because they wanted time off the clock but it was a BRILLIANT move by a rookie. He made it impossible to be hit and the football to be jarred loose. Did you see how many Ravens were right there ready to pounce?

2. Kudos to Andy as to how he handled the last two minutes. The third down screen to Williams was a perfect call.

The third down play was a run by all other QB's we had i nthe recent pass. That's amazing trust already by Andy for Mahomes.

1. So as of this writing, the Raiders, Donks and Bolts all lost, so we open up a two game lead in the AFC West.

We have a weak division this year and I'm all for it!
This week will be a real good test because Matthew Stafford is a much better passer and more accurate than Lamar Jackson. On a positive note, Stafford is no Lamar Jackson in the scrambling game but he can be elusive in a sneaky way.

Their defense is much better than in the past and I think a little underrated.

I'm looking forward to using our speed and having no issues related to the weather.

Thanks GB and nice photo of the CP crew from your dinner on the plaza.

A few things that pop at me... First, I'm not as worried about Detroit as I was Baltimore. Stafford has arm talent but he's pretty mediocre as a field general. He finds ways to put up big numbers and still lose lots of games. Where Detroit has improved is on defense but until some defense stops mahomes, good luck with that.

Something to consider is that in 3 games, Detroit trails 35-21 in the second half. Twice they've lost huge first half leads. Forced a tie in AZ, barely beat Philly by a FG. Seems to hint that they don't make good adjustments. Andy does. And we're learning that so does spags. Have a feeling we'll see the same story we've seen 2 weeks straight where we look uncomfortable in the first quarter followed by an onslaught.

I only saw one exceptionable pass from Jackson all day to Brown on the sideline. Everything else was very pedestrian. His running ability is what makes him dangerous but not sustainable too many guys that want to take his head off.
