Most likely we’ll stick with Wilson until it’s cheap to cut him and Payton will fix him enough to keep us stuck in a 7-9 win purgatory for a good long time.

You would think that the 5th ranked roster from a year ago would be ranked higher than that

I told Mule Tool, caseofdildos, and friends what advanced scouts were saying but they listened to Lammey/Klit instead. Whoops...we'll see? We saw.

Idk about that. Dungver was the only team to get swept by their division last year. This roster looks equally bad!

Ben DiNucci will probably be the starter by week 5, and from watching him play in the XFL, he would be an upgrade to Mr. Limited

It's interesting to think about how to define that phrase "until it's cheap to cut him."

Effectively, the better he performs, the longer they wait to cut him because the cap hit is going to be massive. The better he performs, the more likely they are to think that they can get by with him at QB. The worse he performs, the more likely they are to throw in the towel and just take the hit. The only thing that saves the Broncos here is a return to a superior level of play, but that scenario seems the least likely of all.

They'll have a top 10 pick on a yearly basis so they just need to find a QB in the draft. He'll be ready for a 2nd contract when "Lets Ride" contract expires

It's already being called one of the worst trades in NFL history. Desperate to solve the quarterback issues they've had since the retirement of Peyton Manning, the Broncos shipped two first-round picks, two second-round picks, a fifth-round pick, Drew Lock, Noah Fant, and Shelby Harris to Seattle for Wilson. After signing Wilson to a five-year contract with $161 million guaranteed, he proceeded to flounder with career worsts in completion percentage, touchdowns, and QBR en route to a fourth-place finish in the AFC West. Fans can only hope a new coaching staff will turn things around.
Gawd.. I would have loved to had heard the Seattle conversation when they got off the phone with Denver after that trade.

Schneider: Well Pete, I managed to dump Wilson on the Donks.
Carroll: That's great John. I hope that you were able to get a day 2 pick for him.
Schneider: You're not going to believe this. (Details the haul)
Carroll: Yeah right. Nobody is that dumb. It's clear that Wilson is done.
Schneider: (laughing uncontrollably) I'm serious. That moron Paton had Elfraud in his ear insisting that they needed him for the new ownership group. He offered this and I said yes before he had a chance to think about it.
Carroll: Oh my God John. You would deserve executive of the decade if it weren't for you taking advantage of the worst GM in the NFL. You're awesome.
Both burst out laughing.

If they’re smart (which they’re not) they’ll build the team around EmbaRuss, and wait for the right time to take a quarterback.

Yep. Just like Andy Reid did with Alex Smith. Although, the Chiefs had more to build with because they traded a lot less for Smith and, although he was overpaid, it wasn't a cap crippling contract like what Tater got
