How is Justin Houston feeling right now?
Should’ve given us the home discount and finished his career with a SB |

Solid player, great at his prime, but I'd seen enough of his 'leadership'.
They had to ship him out to correct the culture. |

He didn't practice hard, when he practiced at all. He didn't lead by example. Sat on the sideline, super quiet. Talked shit on Chiefs management from time to time, felt he didn't owe much to the organization that made him a multi-millionaire before age 30. He just wasn't a real leader on the defense. Between Houston and his attitude and Berry and his Haglund's, we had like $45m worth of players who should've been leading the defense either on the sideline pretending to coach, or simply muttering to anyone who'd listen about how they don't have to practice...

The all-time greats make the players around them better; Houston did not do these things. |

"I just knew we had to make a play,” Houston said. “(Hamilton) walked up to me on the sideline. He called me out. He said, ‘You show energy all week long. I need it now. I need it now! You’re the leader of this defense. I need it now!’ So he challenged me, and I just want to be that guy the team could lean on in a time of need.” |

He probably does wish he'd stayed but I don't know if he'd be willing to part with millions just to stay and have a chance at a ring.
