I recieved an message on my PC stating all USB ports had a surge and were "dead''. I tried to usethe mouse and kayboard and the do not reapond. Tried all six ports. No luck. Any clues?

Restart, see if that changes anything.
Power off and unplug for 30sec.
Hit the power button, and press the DEL/F1/F2 buttons to boot to BIOS. See if mouse/keyboard works there.
