It is a good day to remember the 10,000+ Americans POWs who died on British prison ships in the Revolutionary War. Their plight was quietly minimized after England became our ally in the 1900s.

Great point. They seem to be forgotten or at least just a footnote in history. Without their and other volunteers sacrifice, the revolution doesn't succeed.

There are several good books on the topic and a small memorial in Brooklyn. But it is not well known like Andersonville or the Japanese prison camps.

As the books explained, American historians downplayed the prison ships to appease our British allies. Idiotic decision.
