Look how well Veach prepared the roster for 2025, as well. (Red players are UFAs or RFAs.)
QB: Mahomes, WentzThat's a team with an evenly spaced roster that shouldn't be too hard to manage and reconstruct next offseason. |

With $40m in cap space estimated for next year, that gives them the room to sign Butker, Bolton, and probably Humphrey. I'd like to see what they choose to do with Omenihu, but I'm guessing we're nearing the end of that road. I'm guessing the team drafting Hicks means Justin Reid is moving on.
Everything else, the Chiefs can just noodle around at the margins and hopefully draft well. The Chiefs are currently in line for ten draft picks for 2025: 1st 2nd 3rd 3rd (Sneed) 4th 5th 7th 7th (got back for Hardman + 6th) Chiefs are in line for two compensatory 7ths, one of which could be Mr. Irrelevant |

A mock 2025 offseason template, here.
1. The Chiefs threepeat. 2. The Chiefs re-sign Humphrey, Bolton, and Butker to good money. 3. The Chiefs re-sign Wentz, Watson, Wharton, Cochrane and Winchester to smaller money. 4. The Chiefs let walk: Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Marquise Brown, Noah Gray, Irv Smith, Trey Smith, Mike Pennel, Derrick Nnadi, Malik Herring, Nazeeh Johnson, Justin Reid, Deon Bush That puts the roster at: QB: Mahomes, WentzIn free agency, the Chiefs pick up another mid-level WR who wants a one-year rental to drive up his value like JuJu and Hollywood. Chiefs could ostensibly use their draft picks like this: 1st: DE 2nd: DT 3rd: WR 3rd: RB 4th: TE 5th: S And then four 7ths that they can toss away and trade for depth pieces over the course of 2024. Just, a really good spot that Veach has the roster in. |

It's ****ing beautiful, isn't it?
Just really balanced for the 3-peat run. And well-positioned for the future, which is so bright we really ought to be wearing shades. |

Bush probably isn't making it, he sat on the PS almost all of last year.

It's really pretty great that there's so many guys not only playing for the 3-peat but for a contract as well. Really hope Bolton, Creed, Smith and Reid have career years.
Depending on how it goes and what he asks for I don't know if I bring Bolton back though. I'd pay Creed and Butker. Depending on what happens at LT this is a better roster than last year top to bottom. it might be even better the following year. |

Recently went back and watched our week 18 game against the Chargers where we had a lot of guys sitting just to get a better feel for some of our backups. Really focused on Felix and BJ Thompson. I'm absolutely not in the "Felix was a bad pick" crowd, but he definitely needs some work. Didn't look very natural or fluid out there at all.
However I saw some things I liked about BJ Thompson. He came in about half way through the 3Q and played almost every defensive snap for the rest of the game. He definitely needs to put on weight and get stronger, but there's some talent there to work with. Good moves, quick, and a good feel for the game it seemed like. |
