I'm no cap expert but even if Jones is signed, it's an EXTENSION - his 2019 figure will be the whatever small number it currently is (already accounted for).
If we want to spend more this year, we can. |

Yep - and we will still have to fill out the roster post draft with some role players. Really think we need some LB depth more than anything

SportsLine projections: Chiefs new Super Bowl favorites after adding Frank Clark
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/s...vJ_3ZM3u7lJiQk According to Stephen Oh over at SportsLine, the addition of Clark improves the Chiefs' chances of winning the Super Bowl by 3.2 percent. Before the deal, the Chiefs had the fourth-best odds of winning the Super Bowl. However, with Clark now on the team, the Chiefs are now being given an 18.8 percent chance to win the Lombardi Trophy, which is the highest number in the NFL (the Saints, Patriots and Rams all rank just behind the Chiefs). |

Given their current cap situation; the Chiefs can’t get Patrick Peterson then?

If there's a will, there's a way. Question is there the will?

They could get him. He'd have to be gotten in a trade so we'd get his current contract which is something like $11m for this season. He would sign an extension with the Chiefs and get paid more next season. However, what do the Chiefs have to trade for him?

The chart shows dead money against Berry and Houston ending in 2019. Is that correct? I thought we were paying them for a couple more years.

Dead money is just an issue for Clark Hunt.
Patrick Peterson would cost us $11M this year and $12M next. I'd still be all over that. I think you can make it all work. |
