Richard Sherman is busy roasting people today
So all those people that talked shit on him for negotiating his own contract last year, he's hitting every single one of them with a big time receipt today because he met all of his incentives and got a nice pay day.
Dude has a place to talk some shit, they all ripped him and well he was right for betting on himself. |

Just because it worked out doesn’t mean it was a good deal at the time.
I’d say he lucked out more that anything and the success of his team as a whole helped him reach some of those incentives. |

Sure. But he took a calculated risk on himself. He had the $ to take said risk. He knew the consequences and decided to roll with himself and his teammates. This sort of free thinking and confidence in yourself should be applauded.

He left money on the table. It’s dumb to not have an agent.

No doubt and he has every right to make them eat crow, I’m just looking at it objectively.

If you’re a very good player with leverage, you can likely get away with it, but the average NFL player isn’t doing that unfortunately. |

How about Bobby Wagner...he did his deal without an agent.
Lots of these guys need to realize they're getting ****ed in this game and paying a dude a lot of money to do something they could do. |

Yeah. If you're an elite guy, I think the agents are just stealing money that would already be there regardless. Mahomes does not need an agent to get a $40M salary from the Chiefs. He'll be giving away $4M of it to the agent.

To me the funniest part is Joe Thomas ripping on him, I don't agree with many of his takes honestly.....and he's lucky Sherman doesn't throw back that he won more games in a season than Thomas did in his career...

I’m no Sherman fan. I think he’s a whiney **** more often than not. But good for him. I’m glad things worked out for him. I don’t know what other teams would have given him or how close he was to eating shit on the deal, but I’m not opposed to rocking the boat of smarmy ****ing agents.
Eh. I’m not on board with this line of thinking. I have an MBA from an AACSB accredited business school but I’m in no way qualified to negotiate a multi-million dollar contract. Especially one as non-standard and nuanced as an NFL contract. |

But that’s not the point. The point is whether you or I(definitely not I!)are qualified or in a position to negotiate said contract. It’s that Sherman believed he was and felt confident in his ability to get the incentives he set up. Looks like he was right. Not every player should or would do such a thing but he did and it worked out. Raise a glass to him and hope a bunch of shitty Broncos players find a way to rope Elway into giving them awful contracts that **** over that organization for years! |
