Not sure what crept into the bloodline between the Blackfish and Hoster's generation and Hoster's idiot kids (seriously, Lysa, Catelynn, and Edmure are a real trio of nincompoops), but I'm gonna guess it comes from the Whent bloodline Hoster married into.

**** all that. Book Edmure was a good dude. I’m not sure why the show decided to make him a bumbling idiot.

I mean, he’s not shrewd and no one would describe him as particularly intelligent, but he gives a hell of a lot more of a shit about the small folk than literally any of these other bitch ass nobles in the story.
