Clearly, remaining healthy is always the biggest issue.
Left tackle certainly is an issue too, but if you look at just matching what we did last year, it’s not a very high hurdle to replace someone that is just middling . The reason I worry about replacing Sneed is that despite the confidence we all have in our depth at DB Sneed was one of the best cover guys in the whole league. So we have to replace somebody who was truly elite. |

Remember, the Chiefs had SOME play money to work with in free agency, but only enough for one impactful signing. They also had two gaping holes at BOTH tackle spots. They chose to fill one of them and protect their QB. Do you blame them for that? I certainly don't. Particularly when the only significant contributor to WR they were losing was Juju, but they believed they could make up that production through some combination of Toney, Skyy, and rookie Rice. I think it was totally worth a shot and a smart move to make. And if you're going to start yammering about the Justyn Ross hype, stop typing. Nobody was projecting him to be the savior of the WR room. His hype was entirely about making the team and possibly being able to fill a Byron Pringle type role. |
