610 vs 810

Which radio station is more worth my while to listen too? I just installed both the 610 and 810 apps on my iPhone and before giving them a listen, I was wondering what most of you thought and to see if there was a large majority for one station over the other. I understand that this might be like picking between "gonorrehea and herpes" for some of you.

I enjoy listening to sports talk radio, but the over the Donkeys here in Colorado Springs is especially unbearable after last Sunday's shitfest.

My typical KC radio listening day...bouncing between 610, 810 and News 980:

8am morning drive:

810: Steven St. John and Nate Bukatey here with Aaron and Jake behind the glass....Jake...what are you eating? How drunk did you get last night? Did you spew? Did you take home a slump buster? Did she give you the clap? Did you see Dr. Troy Burns for a shot and a general health assessment? .... (snorts, laughter and guffaws for several minutes...)

Click....

610: Bob Fescoe here with my buddy Kling and our ten things sponsored by Dr. Pepper Ten. This ten things is "Ten Reasons Fescoe's fat lips are firmly wrapped around Bill Self's Mediocre Johnson....." HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA (Fescoe laughs annoyingly for no real reason for way too long)...

Click....

980: "Hi, Ellen Shank here with Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill on the weekly 980 round table. So, Senator, how long have you been a communist and a whore?"....

Click.....

Lunchtime:

810: "Soren Petro here. Well, now that the final four is this weekend I'm going to bet on Butler and take the over, and I'll take UConn just because they're from the East, and play Syracuse on a regular basis, and everyone knows the Big East is the best conference because Syracuse plays in it. Hey, I used to work in Vegas, so trust me on this one..."
"Soren, did you know Ernie Davis once rushed for more than 200 yards vs. KU in a season opening game on a slightly damp field in 1959, which is the most yards given up by KU on an season opening road game in KU history? I remember it like it was yesterday. And we'll give dinner to Jazz to the first caller who knows the name of the non-scholarship athletic trainer who washed Ernie Davis' socks and jocks during that 1959 season...."
Soren: "Right you are, Pete Enich...."

Click....

610: "Clones....more of me, and less of you is a good thing. That was great. Coming up on the program, Jay Stu has lined up Seattle Mariner Ichiro, former NBA coach PJ Carlissimo and TV talk show host Hiraldo..... errrrrrr.....former Reds pitcher Mario Soto....that's epic....ERRRRRR... WAR ME!!!.."

Click.....

980: "My friends, it is I, with talent on loan from God..... Obama was born in Kenya and is, in fact, the living, breathing manifestation of the Anti-Christ......"

Click.....

Afternoons:

2pm:

810: "Danny, today we're broadcasting from Iron Horse Golf Club and later Jim Cottey from Smoke and Fire will be by to show us how to gut and sautee a common yard squirrel, but first, look, I don't want to upset the KU fans. Everyone who listens to me knows I'm just a regular guy, my dad was a regular guy, I went to school in Shawnee Mission, I'm blue collar at heart, and maybe it's just me...but Frank Martin would literally kill Bill Self with his bare hands in a street fight. I don't say that because I'm a K-State guy and bleed purple...I say that with all my professional objectivity, integrity and reputation for fairness in mind...and you should never, ever question that about me. Now I need to eat a cookie because if I get fat, my trophy wife who used to be a secretary here will no longer have sex with me once a month and I might have to have laser eye surgery again...at Sabates Eye Center...."
Danny: "Kevin, Dick Hawk at the Gaslight Grill is screwing my wife to the Lynn Zimmer Orchestra while I'm on the road doing UMKC basketball.....but at least I get a free Subaru Outback from Olathe Subaru to drive to the games, and there's nothing like a Subaru....."

Click:

610: "Nick Wright, What's right..... look, my parents are both brilliant, I coulda went to Harvard. And believe this, OK? I'm smarter than you, I'm edgier than you....I work harder at this than all of you..... and Bro, I dress like a black dude to give me street cred. I'd add,
KK: Hey, down here at Smoke N Fire. What'd you cook this with?

Smoke n Fire Guy: We created a flavor profile with a cedar plank and these spices sold at Smoke N Fire

KK: Oh yeah (smacking and eating) that's good. (noisily eating) What about you Danny?

Danny: I don't like fish but the corn is great
(smacking and noisy eating)
Smoke N Fire Guy: Flavor profile. Cedar plank.

KK: What about that Bobby Flay? His stuff looks like cat feces compared to this. You're the best (noisy smacking sounds of eating)

Danny: I agree.

KK: WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOA (disingenuous laughter) Hooooo! We got a rivalry here now! (eating sounds)

Shan Shariff is gone? Holy ****! That news is better than news of the NFL lockout ending. Well, not really, but that guy REALLY sucks. The guy doesn't know SHIT about sports. Thats why he'll address topics around sports, but not the sport itself. He'll talk about how he used to be all-world in Tennis, about fans, about food at stadiums, but he'll never talk about the actual game really.

Don't forget Keitzmans conspiracy theories from time to time. Remember when he said the Chiefs could be playing all their games on the road a few years ago?

It's the worst sports radio I've ever heard. I've heard radio out of Detroit, Toledo, Cincinnati, Chicago and St. Louis for extended periods of time, and have never heard anything worse than Kansas City's. They are completely ****ing ignorant. Honestly, Columbia's two hours of original sports programming blows away anything in KC just for the sophistication of the discourse.

So in the mornings, I recommend listening to 810 where Steven St. John (MU fan) and Nate Bukate (KU fan) are reasonably listenable. They have a more balanced show in terms of local college coverage and they have pretty good guests. Sometimes they get into non-sports banter, but that's the nature of morning shows I guess.

At midday, I listen to Petro because he's pretty good and he's a local sports guy. I'm not into Rome, but if you are, then 610 is where you should be at midday.

In the afternoons, 610's Nick Wright is usually better than 810's Kevin Keitzman for Chiefs news. I listen to both of them depending on the topic of the moment, but I prefer Wright.
