Yeah, some on here seem to really love to diminish our 2019 playoff run for some reason. But at the time we had plenty of people convinced we'd lose to the Texans after we lost Chris Jones, convinced we'd lose to the Titans because Henry was in Super Saiyan mode and they were Reid's kryptonite, and the 49ers, who were just obliterating every team in their way with their run game and defense (they were the perfect counter to the Chiefs style of play, remember?)

This wasn't a 2018 Rams team that got a ref assist to the Super Bowl, San Fran was flat out kicking ass until the last 6 minutes and 13 seconds of our title game. And then the rest is history.

If the Bills beat the Bengals. He’s not playing in game 17. MVP be damned.

IIRC, they beat the Packers by throwing only 8 passes in the NFCCG lol

That 2019 49ers defense doesn't get the credit it deserves simply because they lost to an incredible team. It was probably a top 5 unit of the decade. They were just unfortunate enough to run into a top 5 team of the decade in the 2019 Chiefs.

You have to dodge devastating injuries, freak plays, special teams mishaps, penalties, getting favorable matchups throughout the playoffs.

I'm not saying EVERYTHING has to go your way, but you have to be pretty consistently lucky in the playoffs to make it all the way.

Our 2019 SB run was pretty damn lucky. We got the first round bye in the 11th hour thanks to Fitzmagic, got to face the Texans, Titans, and 49ers when we could've had to deal with the 14-2 Ravens in Baltimore, and then Aaron Rodgers in the Super Bowl. No injuries, no special teams BS, no bad penalties, team was firing on all cylinders. If you look at the other 3 trips to the AFCCG and the other trip to the SB, we were unlucky in one department or more and it played a large part in us losing.

It sucks to say luck plays that much of a role, but thats the nature of the beast in single elimination. All you can do put your team in the best position to succeed once you get to the playoffs.

Once you're there, anything can happen.
We would’ve destroyed the Packers in Super Bowl 54

The 49ers arguably had the most talented roster in the NFL minus QB. They were dominant (13-3, and defeated the Vikings and Packers 27-10 and 37-20). If we didn’t comeback, the 2019 49ers would be seen as one of the most dominant NFL teams post salary cap, up there with the 2013 Seahawk and 2004 Patriots.

Still the best team Mahomes has ever faced

The point i was making is Mahomes didn't have to face another "real" QB that run, besides Watson. I still remember Clay shitting his pants on here the week before that game. He was terrified.

Tanehill couldn't get it done when we shut down Henry, and Garrapolo missed the deep ball that would've been our knockout punch if he hits it.

Thats an element of luck. Both those teams were great, but they lacked the one thing we all wanted during those Alex Smith years. A QB that can get it done in the playoffs.

I'm not trying to diminish our run. I'm just acknowledging we got lucky in a lot of ways. Just like literally EVERY team that has ever won a Super Bowl ever. Its nothing to be ashamed of.
