Watkins contract is essentially a 2 year deal, in year 3 they can get out of it with some money saved
My only concern is how much Tyreek Hill will need to keep him around. |

But $14 million in cap savings. The $7 million is a sunk cost, due to the signing bonus. Not much you can do about that. Big time FA’s are signing big money contracts w/o at least SOME guaranteed money in them.

I agree with what you're saying. Reid is the designer of the game plan. I could see him game planning Watkins as the first read on most plays. But, that doesn't predicate Mahomes to go to him. If Watkins is the first read, and it's a curl route 6 yards down field, but Hill has separation further downfield, Mahomes has shown the propensity to hit Hill instead.

This is what I think will happen in 2020.
-Sammy Watkins is on the team. -Tyreek Hill gets a new deal with a low first year cap hit. -Chiefs will look for Travis Kelce’s replacement in the draft. I think this is Kelce’s last contract with the Chiefs. They can’t afford to pay him, Hunt, Hill, Mahomes and Watkins big money. Kelce would be 31 that year so he seems like the odd man out |

Yeah, Tyreek is gonna wanna get a good payday.
It'll be tough to keep both, but the hope at that point is that Mahomes is developed and you can have him carry the offense somewhat with new young WR's. |
