They locked the doors and had police there to tell people to go home, from what I heard at work. Pretty sad situation, those are some good jobs.

HD has been steadily losing market share for the past decade plus. Something to do with charging top dollar for 100 year old tech.

I hate to see any good paying jobs leave KC. This will impact more than the 800 folks at HD. I must admit I don't know a heck of a lot about motorcycles, but just about everyone I know that rides does so on a Harley. So what's the problem?

They should just turn it into a replacement parts factory. They'd probably be super busy

To make it worse... they had a good chunk of the solution to this problem when they owned Buell. The HD wing would have taken care of the old guys while Buell could have made the vtwin speak more to the younger crowd. Instead they nuke Buell to focus on a brand that, for the most part, only appeals to guys that are old and nearing the time where their bikes are gonna be more garage queens than actual methods of transportation. |

The boom from the decade of the 00s is long gone, boomers and the midlife crisis buyers from the reality show fad are getting too old to ride are selling their bikes off, millennials are not embracing motorcycling as much as the previous generation, etc etc

The market is over saturated with Orange County Chopper knockoffs from people inspired to be "bikers" during the reality bike build show period. |

Or a HD merchandise factory. Everyone that's been within three feet of a Harley has at least 14 shirts, 3 keychain rings, 18 stickers, a dozen coozies and a dinner plate set or two.
