You linked to a Miami Herald article that says the Marlins prefer the prospects the Cardinals have to offer. That doesn't mean that the Cardinals have offered them. You are getting ahead of yourself/reading what you want to see and not whats written. Here's what I know of the situation with Stanton. 1) He's given a list of teams he would waive his NTC for 2) The only team on that list to be confirmed is the Dodgers and he's content to wait on them if they show interest 3) He wants to play on the west coast, according to Morosi So no, I'm not afraid at all that the Cardinals will get him because no signs point to him waiving his NTC for St. Louis. Even if he did I'll take the Cubs lineup over the Cardinals lineup with Stanton any day of the week. Last edited by jd1020; 12-01-2017 at 07:45 PM.. |

Diaz traded to the Blue Jays for OF J.B. Woodman. Ranked 28th in the Blue Jays system according to MLB.com and had a .699 OPS in A ball last season. Aledmys Diaz must have really fell on his ****ing face.
https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2017/...dmys-diaz.html In before he's the missing piece in the Stanton deal. Last edited by jd1020; 12-01-2017 at 07:53 PM.. |

Cardinals new cable TV deal starts this year.
A source familiar confirmed this is a new deal that covers the 2018 through 2032 seasons and will pay more than $1 billion over the 15 years in rights fees and signing bonus. The first year rights fee will start around $50 million and grow with a single-digit annual escalator. It is estimated the final year rights payment will be around $86 million. In addition the team gains a 30% equity stake in Fox Sports Midwest. The total value ranks it close to the top ten of MLB’s Most Valuable Television Deals. -------------------------------------------- 1 billion/15= $133 million a year average plus a 30% stake in Fox Midwest. We get $50 million in new money this year. Plus there is increased revenue from MLB TV and internet money. Waino's $20 million yearly drops off after this year. We dropped off last years top ten payrolls. l don't want to hear about risking years of dead money. It's free money. Take some risks. You dug yourself a hole. Spend the damn money to get your stupid asses out. Last edited by BigRedChief; 12-02-2017 at 04:21 PM.. |

Jon Heyman says he's heard no way that Stanton approves a deal to St. Louis.
One person said he “didn’t see any way” he’d accept the Cardinals but added the disqualifier that he can’t say he knows for sure. Another opined that he’d “100 percent” take the Giants over the Cardinals if that’s the choice, and yet another suggested the Midwest, behind the most preferred West Coast and East Coast, is his “last choice.” |

If Stanton does indeed say no I'd expect dominos to begin falling all over as they definitely have plan B,C, etc....

yeah if he decided to not come to the Midwest under any circumstances before the off season, surely he told the Marlins and if that's true, what a waste of everyone's time.

You can choose any player combo in the major leagues for this hypothetical exercise. They dont need to be free agents. You just need to use their market value. Care to try? |

He probably has but the Marlins aren’t telling the cardinals or giants so they can get the best deal possible. Same way Boras does with his players. That “silent team” so they can’t get more money.

Disagree. If he told them he wouldn’t go to STL they wouldn’t be talking to us. It’s his decision, they aren’t waisting their time negotiating with a team that Stanton’s already said he wouldn’t want to be traded to. Leverage between the two teams is minimal. This is different than a FA situation. Both are going to put their best offer on the table, regardless of what other team is involved, it’s too risky not to.
