IT remake 2017

http://consequenceofsound.net/2016/0...phen-kings-it/

Things are really floating for Andrés Muschietti’s two-part remake of Stephen King’s It. A few weeks ago, the filmmaker posted a few pieces of concept art and set photos for his adaptation, and now he’s gone ahead and unleashed a terrifying first look at Bill Skarsgård as the nefarious titular force, Pennywise.

The soon-to-be 26-year-old actor spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the “extreme character,” specifically its complicated mythos: “He’s not even a clown. I’m playing just one of the beings It creates,” he explained, adding: “What’s funny to this evil entity might not be funny to everyone else. But he thinks it’s funny.”

Skarsgård also addressed the big shoes waiting to be filled with sewage water. “Tim Curry’s performance was truly great, but it’s important for me to do something different because of that,” he remarks of the veteran actor’s iconic role in the 1990 mini-series. “I’ll never be able to make a Tim Curry performance as good as Tim Curry.”

Better yet, the kid’s hit the books, as he contends: “I’ve been doing some clown research. I’m not sure if there was so much clown phobia before the novel. There’s obviously been this thing where people find clowns are unsettling, but nobody explored it the way Stephen King did.”

As previously reported, this adaptation will split King’s original 1986 novel into two movies. The first will follow the children being stalked by the titular shapeshifting monster, while the second will pick up decades later, when those same kids are confronting their same demons as adults.

Jaeden Lieberher, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer, Wyatt Oleff, Chosen Jacobs, and Jeremy Ray Taylor lead the pack as The Losers Club which Skarsgård’s Pennywise and Owen Teague’s bullish Patrick Hocksetter will prey upon. Their adult counterparts have yet to be cast and it’s still unclear if they will prior to the first installment’s release.

Filming is currently underway in Port Hope, Ontario, which the production team has turned into Derry, Maine. Dread Central recently stumbled upon a number of juicy set photos, confirming the time frame (Summer 1989) and the appearance of one terrifying form of It (ahem, he’s carrying an axe). Take a look at a handful of shots below.

The first half of Stephen King’s It hits theaters September 8th, 2017.

not very optimistic about this.. what made the original great was that Pennywise was CREEPY as hell, looks like they just made him ultraviolent/slasherfest mode. Also pretty dumb that the Stranger Things kid is this.. doing the exact same thing he did in the show that was already paying homage to the original.

I thought it was OK, not great. Wasn't particularly scary and Stranger Things did the Losers better than this movie did. The scene with Pennywise in the sewer that you see excerpts from in commercials was fantastic and I had high hopes but it never really captured that vibe again for me. There are a couple of scenes I found so unbelievable that it almost ruined it for me, but all-in-all I didn't feel ripped off but have zero interest in ever seeing again.

I just saw a clip of the Georgie mauling scene.
There are two things I hate watching in movies: rape scenes and anytime where kids get tortured/killed.

......but I'll suck it up to see this movie.

My son and his G/F just saw this. He was raving about it. He said that they both enjoyed the movie quite a bit. They both like horror movies, and if the movie makes you want to look away from the screen at times because it's almost too much to handle then they feel like they got their money's worth. From what they said this is one of those movies.

The movie isn't very scary -- they could have pushed it a lot more than they did. After all the talk of how gruesome the opening scene was supposed to be it was kind of a let down.

Another thing the wife (who knew nothing about the source material) got lost on was just why Pennywise was there/doing this. They could have spent a bit of time going into his character back story if only as a set-up for the sequel where I'm sure it will be revealed, but I guess fans of the book who already know where he fits into the King Universe won't mind.

I thought it was a decent flick. Wasn't overly scary or gory, though. Even the opening scene was tame compared to what I had heard.

You see worse on AMC.

Still enjoyed the Stand By Me and Stranger Things -ish band of friends story to it.

It's really half horror, half coming of age movie.

They should have started the movie with Bill narrating the background of the town. If you didn't read the book, you might be a little lost. Only three of the kids really stand out.

Watched today and was pretty excited.
I had 2 gripes:

A) The theater volume was just a tad too loud. (AMC Prime) This may just be my sensitivity to the 2-4k frequency range.
B) Too many unnecessary F-bombs in the movie coming out of the mouth of kids. I'd love to let my kids watch this movie since they watched the original, but with that many F-bombs I just can't do it. (They are 4 & 6... which is way too young IMO). The movie would have been just as good without all of the F-bombs.

It took awhile to get used to the new Pennywise voice instead of Tim Curry, but I adapted. I wish they could have had Curry do voiceover and have Skarsgard Lip-Sync the parts.

Anyway, loved it. Will watch again.

Just left the movies. The trailer is a lot scarier than the movie. Movie wasn't scary at all really. Just a few jump scares here and there. Was basically a feature length episode of Stranger Things.

But it was a good movie overall. Kids were funny and the suspense was good enough to keep the movie going. Did feel a tad too long though.
