Very, very, VERY unique band from the original LA set. RATT and Motley were the undisputed kings of the early 80's rock scene and everything that came after was a pale imitation.
RATT wrote some of the most unique rock songs I've ever heard. Many of their songs follow a fairly traditional arrangement, but they also include these parts that kind of come from left field which add a completely different dimension to the standard verse-chorus arrangement. A LOT of talent in that band. |

There wasnt a whole lotta that bluesy grind with them, their stuff (thanks to DeMartini) has a much more metal flavor in many ways... I hear something more like an American, party time lets **** Judas Priest than I do straight up bluesy raunch like most Crue - Shout at the Devil being the exception - |

I have a signed copy of Reach for the Sky. They were signing at the Rolling Stone record store outside Chicago back in 1990.

A good pal of mine is still a big fan, he has seen them at least 5 times and gotten to meet them a few times... and they live up to their reputation, always extremely gracious to fans, never too good to talk |
