A Breakdown of Dee Ford
I just wanted to share an article that articulates exactly how I feel about Dee Ford and why I believe he was a monumental reach in round 1. Hopefully the Chiefs can work on the flaws and turn him into a beast like they did with Dontari Poe. We shall see.

We should not have reached for Ford, who would have been a high 2nd round round pick, at worst.
We should have reached for Gabe Jackson, who was a 3rd round pick. Makes perfect sense. I don't think sac is a troll. He's just one stupid mother. |

However, I loathe the pick. The guy didn't produce in college despite his prodigious athletic talents. He's a major work in progress that may or may not pan out. That's not the guy you take in the first round when you have numerous needs at other positions (WR/OL/DB/ILB/etc.) I know that they need depth at the OLB position, but Ford is a one trick pony that didn't really do that one trick very well. |

Dee Ford is a short armed speed rusher. That being said, at least initially with the chiefs, he wont be asked to be an every down player. They will maximize his abilities by using him as a pass rush specialist (i.e. his 1 trick). He is a boom/bust prospect since his major strength is timing the snap count. All it takes is a handful of false start penalties in a game to neutralize him.
Gabe Jackson is a good player. He has great tape, but a poor (IMO) combine. In no way is a guard worth the chiefs pick. Pass rusher positional value > interior offensive lineman. |

There were 20-25 other dudes I would have taken before Ford and Dorsey should be strung up by his balls for taking Gaines over Donte Moncrief.
Kyle Van Noy Jeremiah Attaochu Trent Murphy Demarcus Lawrence All would have been a better option than Dee Ford, IMO. (Especially when you throw in the injury issue.) |

We've got 3 or 4 guys competing for that starting RG spot, and I'm fairly confident we can get one of them to be adequate. And that's all we should expect and want, really. Or we can spend valuable top-end draft stock on the worthless ****ing position. That's what you apparently want. |

Although I don't share Sacc's hatred of the Dee Ford pick, I do agree that our first two picks should have been Van Noy and Moncrief.

Dee Ford will DOMINATE!
Steal of the draft and tickles the ivories like a champ! Better get you Ford jersey now before the price goes up. You will be hearing his name a lot during camp and preseason - and that will carry him into a very productive rookie year where he will earn Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. This kid is a Beast!! |
