A Countdown of the Top 25 (27 technically) "Most Helpful" Posts

It's kind of crazy that it's been nearly three years since we added the "helpful answers" feature (the thumbs up/down stuff). Unfortunately, it's a really basic add-on, so it doesn't have much in the way of reporting out stats or anything, but I can technically download the whole table and try to run some quick queries on it just for fun.

Since we're all cooped up at home for the most part (or irritated that we can't be), I figured I'd start with a count down of the top posts since we added the system. No contests - I'll just post them so that we can all enjoy some of the best posts we've had on here in the past few years.

(For simplicity, I'm ranking these by total thumbs up, so if a post has a few thumbs down, I don't care for the purposes of this.)

Starting out with #25 (#24-#27 actually), we have a four-way tie at 27 thumbs up. Amusingly, the first one is mine:

I'm getting a sense that this may be a list of some of the harshest retorts.

But then we do have this one to bring us to some quality content as well.

The moment I started the car the first time we were going out to drive, she immediately got nervous and started screeching orders (BE CAREFUL, OMG!, SLOW DOWN, MAKE A FULL STOP...etc.). It was very easy to tell that she had an unhealthy fear of driving in the car, and me being a punk kid at the time made the situation worse).

At this time, I lived in farm country, so literally no traffic until you jumped on a small highway to go into town. The speed limit at the time was 60, but this lady was so paranoid, we didn't get above 45 mph...of course she really freaked out by the time we got to our small town and there was actual traffic....

In reflection, that may have been the most dangerous car ride I ever took....going 45 on a highway, getting barked at every turn, etc. was very nerve racking for me, and certainly took away my attention to what was going on around me (kind of like screaming "FIRE" in a crowded room)

My point in all of this: You seem like a good person, and I assume that you are not trolling (you may very well be)....but for me, whenever I see you post, all I hear is my step-mom's mom screeching panic and death in a situation that really calls for calm, clear heads to prevail.

This pandemic is certainly bad, but it's not the end of us all. We all are impacted, but to allow this to be in your head, and only looking at the negative aspects as some sort of doom / gloom situation is foolish. I don't put stock in anyone saving me, or that I'm any more or less susceptible to this thing as anyone else. But I'll be damned if I'm going to stress out of every bit of negative news that comes across, and you shouldn't either. Most of us realize the scope and depth of this thing, and are doing all we can to protect ourselves, our loved ones, and others around us. To constantly screech doom, gloom, and death really makes people not listen to your message. Just my $0.02

At #18-#23, we have a six-way tie with 28 thumbs up. (They do spread out a little more after this.)

Ahh, more warm and fuzzy posts.

I'll always appreciate that, when we get into real-life issues, this place is pretty supportive.

Airline could get me onto a plane on Saturday, 1/18 but not my son. There were no seats flying into KC. On any airline. No seats into St. Louis. None into Wichita.

There were a couple into Omaha, but through Chicago.

I don’t fly through Chicago if I can help it, particularly in the winter. Airport with a bad reputation for delays and lost luggage. But I’ve dropped lots of money for Chiefs ticket and this is a unique event. So I book those tickets.

I fly a lot for work so I usually get bumped up when I fly for Alaska. Now, I fly American. No first class. Red-eye flight on a plane with temperature way too hot. We get to Chicago and flight is miraculously not cancelled despite bad weather the previous 24 hours. Flight from Kalamazoo that was going to be my flight to Omaha is cancelled. But American uses a different plane, one covered in ice. So we de-ice and go to Omaha. I get a car and 48 hours after I start my journey, we are in KC.

I have to say there were many times over the last day where I did not think we were going to make it. I was sorely tempted to try to sell my tickets or rely upon my ticket insurance, but I’ve been a Chiefs fan all my life. KC won Super Bowl IV 3 months after I was born. This is our time. This is our moment. I’m going to be there with my son come hell or high water.

So here we are.

Beat the Titans. Beat them without mercy, without pity, without remorse. Let the NFL hear the sound of Mahomes and tremble.
It's nice that these kinds of posts finally held up this year.

You didn't belong in the playoffs in the 1st place. You backed into the playoffs because the Steelers trotted out Duck ****ing Hodges and the Texans rested their starters. We told you you were going to lose by double digits and you didn't listen, and SHOCKINGLY you lost by double digits. Sorry, but you're not in the same class. And NE is a better organization, they'll rebound, and Baltimore beats you 8/10. You didn't belong on that field yesterday.

Within the next hours and days you'll get over whatever it is you're feeling and you'll start to tell yourself shit like, "hey we can build off this season".

No. No you can't. There's nothing here you can build off of. This was a lost opportunity. There's no turning this into a SB next year. You won't even have the same team next year and the odds are high injuries will completely morph the Titans. It's not ****ing happening. You won't even make the playoffs next year.

The Patriots will rebound somehow, the Ravens will likely whoop your ass, the Texans probably will build on their team since they actually have a real QB and you'll be duking it with the Jags at the bottom of your division and here's why:

You're going to re-sign Tannehill to at least 20M+ per year thus settling in at mediocrity for a year or two while he returns to his Miami form, reminding you why he was cut in the 1st place. Because that's how retread QB's go. See Nick Foles for your latest. Trust me as a Chiefs fan i know.

You'll re-sign Henry to a monster contract and he'll never produce again the way he produced this season. Most backs don't age well and big backs especially dont age well. His numbers will only go down and you'll be paying the richest RB in the league for what he USE to be while he's just a shell of himself within a season or two. See Todd Gurley and Ezekial Elliot for your latest. Trust me as a Chiefs fan i know.

And for the next 15 years you'll hate us. You'll learn to despise us. Because you're going to see Arrowhead Stadium hosting the AFCCG at least every other year, and we'll have the franchise QB that shits all over your mediocre franchise, forcing you to exist under our shadow. And every time your team has to play us, or any team has to play us, the media be sucking the Mahomes dick so, so hard. And you'll hate the media for it.

That's your football future. Have fun.
Thanks for the memories, Cam?

You guys remember Magnificent Megan working on my radio show in the morning? She was a Kansas grad with good connections on the Kansas hoops team. WHB qualified for one media credential to cover the tournament. That credential went to Clinkscale. Obviously I got a credential through my job at the KC Star. Because of my long tenure covering the NCAA Tourney, I got the NCAA to issue Megan a credential. Kietzman heard about it and immediately called the NCAA and had them revoke her credential. He only wanted someone from his show working the NCAA Tourney. Kietzman was so insecure. It was really embarrassing. It would drive him crazy when Roy Williams, Kelvin Sampson and Mike Davis would all come on my show. They were all in the Final Four the same year and I had all three of them on my show the same morning.

Anyway, there are a million stories of KK pulling that kind of shit.

All right, I'm gonna bounce. This is the first time I've logged in since 2014. Miss you guys!

Go Chiefs!

Given or received? I was able to back into a ranking of who has given the most thumbs, but it annoyingly would require me to download the whole damn post table to look at received.
