Marvel's "Ant-Man"

Can't find a thread and the new useless Google search function sucks donkey balls.

Just watched it in IMAX. I enjoyed it. Good origin story, had humor, human interest, decent action, decent effects, left it open to bring him right into the new movie canon. Wasn't stupid or silly as I feared. It won't make a ton of money but will be on par with some of the "Captain America" and "Thor" box office takes.

Oh, yeah, and the 3D was well done and kind of essential to really put you into his miniature world. Not sure how good the film would play in 2D; might seem sillier.

Michael Douglas still has it.

So does Evangeline Lily, in a different way.

I've always liked Paul Rudd so had no problems with his lead. Much like TV's "The Flash", he's just a fairly normal guy.

The sidekicks were okay, although in hindsight they were pretty stereotyped.

The villain was a necessary evil to the plot and was underdeveloped in an unfortunately typical way for modern superhero films.

To give a little comparison to the comic book, the character Yellowjacket in the comics was actually Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) when he went through a bit of a split personality issue.

Going to see it tonight. How good were the "hidden credits" scenes?

Saw one mid-credits scene, introduces a new character you probably guessed was coming halfway through the film. Didn't stay to the end.

Yeah, the guy who saw it with me is a comics fan and said the script pretty much went off the rails from the original story. It works, though.

Oh, yeah: nice opening flashback scene to the late 80s, featuring Hayley Atwell and John Slattery.

The MCU is not completely but mostly following the Ultimates Universe...

I don't think there are any elements in the Ant-Man movie that are borrowed from the Ultimate Universe. Darren Cross as Yellowjacket wasn't sourced from any comic story.

Second scene was taken directly from Civil War as I understand it, has been repurposed. Haven't seen it yet myself.

This was a really solid, fun film. I liked it alot!

The action scenes were really creative. Especially the end fight scene in the kids playroom.

They embraced the absurdity of the premise and found just the right tone. Funny and exciting.
