Who are the national media types that ARE solid?

With so much angst about what the national media thought coming into yesterday's game, it got me wondering about which talking heads ARE worth the time. And I'm not talking about people who are generally Chiefs "fans" at some level like Pete Schrager (or obviously Nick Wright) so much as guys who are actually pretty objective and bring something to the conversation.

I see Chris Simms thrown out a lot, and I've enjoyed what I've watched of him. Rich Eisen seems solid. Who else?

Maybe it’s because he’s working with epic dumbshit Skip Bayless, but Shannon Sharpe has become tolerable.

It really is just Chris Simms. And to a lesser degree, Baldinger.

Good point. His handling of the tyreek accusations last year and his reporting on Matt house joining us a few years ago was excellent journalism. Especially with tyreek he showed a level of professionalism most did not.

I thought his podcast with Kelce was solid. Skip could have a five-hour in-depth discussion with Patrick, Kelce, Hill, and Andy, and I wouldn't watch. So until Shannon breaks that partnership....nah. Not gonna watch that.

If nothing else this thread is helping me to flesh out my "national NFL media" list on Twitter, so thanks for that.

JK. Those guys are the worst. Yet they've been at that job for over 20 years.

Random fact I just learned: the phrase "blowing smoke up their ass" originated from a literal medical practice of blowing tobacco smoke into someone's rectum.

Awful as Bradshaw is, I'd still rather listen to that crew than ESPN

Rex Ryan, Bruschi, Hasselbeck and Moss are a JOKE

To echo everyone else, Chris Simms is by far the best.

Like others have mentioned, Ryan Clark, Max Kellerman, Peter Schrager, Dan Orlovsky are all great too.

For us Chiefs fans, Nick Wright as well.

If I wasn't a Chiefs fan I'd hate Nick Wright. He has just become insufferable. Of course, he's insufferable in a way I agree with, but still. Dude needs to dial it down a notch and I don't see that happening anytime soon.

My favorite is probably McAfee. Even though he played for the Colts, he seems like a great guy, is informed and entertaining, and has great takes and great stories.

Simms is very good. I like Eisen as well. Like someone else said, Skip is such a complete tool that he makes Sharpe look brilliant, but he's still Sharpe.

I don't like Skip but his takes are not actual analysis, he's just playing a role.

I like watching Skip and Shannon go at each other but it's just junk entertainment. There's absolutely nothing to learn there.

Nick Wright and Danny Parkins was the golden age of KC sports radio. Danny kept that show really strong after taking over for Nick but then left for your city once he got the opportunity (he was always a die hard Chicago fan).

KC sports radio is just complete ass now. Unwashed ass. Just unbearable.

His analysis was spot-on. I thought he was being overly optimistic and then three games later mahomes had 10 touchdowns and 0 picks.
