2019 Draft Ranking for Positions

Not a good year to try for a CB1 or Safety. Makes DJLN's pick of a center sound even better...

If Henderson slips to the 3rd and is there at our pick def take him then. He's a better Kareem Hunt.

If he's there in the 3rd, you consider it.

I would say he's a better Kareem Hunt until he proves it though.

Maybe.

I think he's got a little more wiggle and is a little quicker than Kareem.

I'm really not all that big of a fan. I'm really not high on taking a RB at any point of this draft.

This. If one of the top ones falls and there is insane value....then fine. But I'm not drafting one just for the purpose of taking one.

I'm good with the Chiefs taking a RB in the 5th/6th if say Armstead or Ozigbo or someone is there that could upgrade the #3 spot. I'm not about to waste a day 1/2 pick on one though when this team signed Hyde and has both Williams' boys. I really don't see it as a need any longer though and just bringing in some camp bodies via the UDFA route is probably the way to go this year.

I firmly disagree that there aren't CB1 types in this draft and there are certainly some safeties that are very, very good. Just because a group is "weak" doesn't mean there won't be guys out there for the taking that fit the mold.

I don't know what the expectation is as far as a #1 CB type goes, but I certainly see those traits out of several CBs in this draft, such as Greedy Williams, Byron Murphy, Amani Oruwaryie, and Trayvon Mullen. You could also argue Rock Ya-Sin, Justin Layne, Isaiah Johnson, Sean Bunting, Kris Boyd, and Michael Jackson as guys that look to have that outside ability and the traits. That said, I do see the CB class as weak overall without a clear star in the bunch.

As for safety, I couldn't disagree more with the author. This is a very strong group. He's right, there isn't a Derwin James amongst them. There are the rest of what he goes on to name though, in spades. For example, Thornhill was an already good corner that was absolutely lights out in his move to safety and is probably going round 1. He's one of the better playmakers at the position I've seen come out in a while. I wouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger on that kid in 1, over and above Bradbury. He's a better prospect, IMO, than Malik Hooker was. I'd put Abram firmly on par with Adams. There are about 8 safeties that have a legitimate chance to go between about pick 20 and the bottom of the 2nd and I wouldn't doubt 10 total will be taken by the end of day 2. That's a strong class for safeties. That list includes Abram, Adderley, Thornhill, Gardner-Johnson, Thompson, Rapp, Savage, Harris, Hooker, and Johnson.

Zero problem taking a RB in the 3rd rd. There’s going to be some quality backs that fall there that could play roles in our offense.

I think the writer had it right. The only reason we're talking about any of these guys at safety or corner going in the first round because this draft is kind of trash at the top.

That doesn't make it a bad class for finding a starter, though. It just makes it harder because there's no real "can't miss" prospects, as if such a thing exists anyway.

That probably right.

That's why I wouldn't be upset with the Bradburry in the first pick if they thought he was more than just a starter. If he's on the board and they have him as a blue chip prospect, go for it.

If you can have that and 2 starters with those 2nd round picks, you're sitting pretty damn good.

Everyone I kind of run thru that may be available at 29 I kinda have the shoulder shrug meh feeling about.

Like, I wouldn't be upset with it if it's a safety or a CB or a DL, just that its so much up to the scouting department to hit it. Feels like it's one of those where the safety you take at 61 may end up being the best safety in the class and it's all about actual fit.
