Game of Thrones Seasons 7-8

About to hit the 5000 post mark on the old thread, the first season 7 trailer today seems like the right time to start the final Game of Thones thread.

I'm going back to the original rules pre-2015. I don't think we need supervision or bannings. Just don't be a dick. Post anything you find online that hasn't aired yet inside of spoiler tags. That's pretty much it. I think we can all handle that...

For future us, 2015 thread is here: Link

Ah ... okay. Got it.

I failed to grok the symbolism.

Thanks, Mr. Baby Lee.

Can you point this out to me? I'm not quite following. Very interested, but not understanding exactly the scene to which you refer.

Bookmarking this for later. Iirc D&D and Sappo had a great interview about the spontaneous nature of shooting the scene and the subsequent symbolic nature behind it. I'll dig it up after work and post it.

If the battle would have ended with Ramsay’s forces betraying him that actually would have changed quite a bit about how we think about the battle and the results for Jon. He defeated the entire army and house and avenged the red wedding in dramatic fashion. If the forces simply betray Ramsay he beats Ramsay but does he completely destroy the threat? Do the other houses completely rally behind him? Does he have to forcefully take back Winterfell?

I think the idea was that this betrayal, coupled with the Sansa, Petyr, and the Riders of Rohan, would have been what forced Ramsay back into Winterfell. Everything else about the battle would have stayed consistent - with all northern houses pledging loyalty in Winds (with Jon pardoning the betraying houses in S7 Ep 1).

We started watching again late last summer with Season 1, Episode 1. Been watching one per week Sunday nights. Our plan is to finish Season 7 Episode 7 right before the Season 8 premier.

It's amazing how much I missed watching everything the first time.

All of these are just excellent reads/watches for a nerd like me.

Article on Jon's rebirth and how it was designed by Kit Harrington and Sappo:

https://www.vanityfair.com/hollywood...ds-crowd-scene

Discussion on Jon's rebirth in the episode:

https://www.reddit.com/r/gameofthron..._the_bastards/

And finally, just one of the best breakdowns on the creation of the battle.

There’s going to be a two hour long behind the scenes type episode after the show... but they said it will be more than just “behind the scenes”.
