Obviously Mahomes is MORE talented, but I think sometimes people overlook how much pure talent and what a cannon of an arm Cutler had. The hilarious thing is that this pro comp is exactly why Bears fans were mostly against the idea of drafting Mahomes. They may complain NOW, but it was overwhelmingly only about Trubisky and Watson for them at the time. They were terrified of 'another Cutler'. |

IMO, this version of the Lions is not the same team as last year. And yet that team somehow beat the Patriots.
This year's Lions team somehow best both the Chargers and the Eagles. After tying the Cardinals? Lions always do weird things. Here's the thing: the Lions aren't healthy in some key spots. Their best two DBs are hurt, D. Slay their best CB is nursing a hamstring, his right one I think. Against our WRs he's going to have to run full speed for an entire game. If I were their DC I might sit him, but they are one game back of GB after last night and so I expect him to play in some fashion. DT Mike Daniels, their best DL is out, and another D lineman, Hand, is nursing a hand or arm injury and may not play. On offense Amendola is dealing with a chest injury of some kind, but he'll likely play. Something else to keep in mind. This Sunday the Chiefs are playing on turf, and turf makes fast guys faster. Also, up to this point are D, in particular Mr. Frank Clark has played in extreme heat, on dirt, and in the rain, none of which are optimal for footing, quickness, or bull-rushing. This weekend he'll be playing on the best kind of surface for his style of play. Ditto for Chris Jones in the power rush area. Might be interesting to watch. Of course, the converse of the above is that the Chiefs aren't healthy either. Shady's dinged, and we don't know how bad, Damien's out for this Sunday, and now we hear Darrel is dinged up. And we know about the other key issues already. If we were completely healthy I think the Chiefs could blow this out to a 3-4 TD lead early in the second half. As it is, While I still completely believe in Neo, er I mean Mahomes, and I think this defense is going to play fairly well, the Lions are just weird. I think it's going to be a game with shoot-out potential. 42-37 Chiefs. |
