In short, Flash went back in time to tell Bruce to save Lois. After Superman's death, Bruce falls in love with Lois Lane, who is still in love with Superman. After Superman is revived, Bruce fails to heed the Flash's warning to "Save Lois". She dies, Superman loses the will to live and becomes victim to the Anti-Life Equation and wipes out the Justice League and planet.
Flash goes back in time to warn Bruce about Lois and the next time, Bruce sacrifices himself, saves the other heroes and the world. Bruce dies and Lois and Clark's son, born with no powers, becomes the next Batman.
