With our limited knowledge and scope we have already found planets of similar size to earth and from similar distance to their stars. The finding of us would not be the hard part. The hard part would be getting here, but something like wormholes, which are extensively researched and theoretically possible, could be the key.
A civilization millions of years older than us could have unlocked this mystery or even found other ways that we can't yet dream of. Our understanding of the universe is still far too minimal to place limits on what a civilization with an extra millions of years could doing.
Do you believe aliens (in the conventional sense) exist at all? Or do you just believe they wouldn't be able to get here?
