He thought it hit the metal railing behind the wall and bounced back in. He was in his home run trot.
He was wrong and he should not have stopped running full speed. But that is what he did.
Honestly, in real time, I thought that it hit the metal railing as well. But on replay it was clear that it didn't.
He took responsibility for it and stated that he was wrong to stop running.
