Stark: The 2021 spring training storylines survey has Padres, Blue Jays front and center

SURVEY SAID: In the Most Improved American League Team voting, the Blue Jays went 32-for-32. So they join the Padres in appearing on every ballot. And after the year we’ve just lived through, has unanimity ever felt more heartwarming? Did you notice that two-thirds of the AL franchises were just treading water (or worse) this winter? Our voters did.

So only four teams besides the Jays got more than two votes in the Most Improved Team balloting: White Sox 28, Angels 14, Royals 12, Yankees 6. And one voter refused to list any other team except the Blue Jays. His ballot looked like this: “Blue Jays … That’s it!”

SURVEY SAID: Best Trade: Lindor and Arenado swallowed up most of the votes in the Best Trades competition — but not all of them. The leader board after those two: Snell to the Padres 8, Darvish to the Padres 7, Andrew Benintendi to the Royals 2. The fun little group that got one vote apiece included Raisel Iglesias to the Angels, an actual Yankees-Red Sox deal (sending Adam Ottavino to Boston) and separate votes for both the Yankees’ and Pirates’ end of the Jameson Taillon trade.
