A retrospective analysis of the player is less important to me than the compensation comparison really. That said, yes Davenport is only now starting to ascend and so you can argue that it wasn't a smart move looking back. Even then, I think Karlaftis and Johnson are much more complete and better prospects than Davenport who was extremely raw.
